Introduction

The Hiplok Z LOK Combo is a lightweight, resettable combination security tie designed for quick and convenient security. It features a reinforced steel core for protection against opportunist theft and a 45cm locking length. This manual provides instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining your Z LOK Combo lock.

Setup

Setting Your Combination Code

Your Z LOK Combo comes with a factory preset combination of 0-0-0. To set your personal 3-digit code:

1. Ensure the lock is open and set to the default combination 0-0-0.
2. Locate the small reset button or lever on the side or bottom of the combination mechanism.
3. Using a pen or a pointed object, press and hold the reset button/lever.
4. While holding the reset button/lever, rotate the dials to your desired 3-digit combination. Choose a memorable code.
5. Release the reset button/lever. Your new combination is now set.
6. Test your new combination immediately by scrambling the dials and then entering your new code to open the lock.

Attaching the Optional Bracket (for Bicycles)

The Z LOK Combo includes an optional bracket for convenient carrying on your bicycle frame.

1. Identify a suitable location on your bicycle frame, such as bottle cage mounts or other accessory points.
2. Use the provided screws (if applicable, or your existing bottle cage screws) to secure the bracket to the frame. Ensure it is tightly fastened.
3. Once the bracket is installed, the Z LOK Combo can be clipped into it for transport.

Operating the Lock

Locking Procedure

1. Ensure the combination is set to your personal code and the lock is open.
2. Wrap the flexible steel core strap around the item(s) you wish to secure (e.g., bicycle frame, helmet, luggage) and an immovable object (e.g., bike rack, fence post).
3. Insert the free end of the strap into the locking mechanism until it clicks securely into place.
4. Scramble the combination dials to secure the lock.

Unlocking Procedure

1. Rotate the combination dials to your personal 3-digit code.
2. Once the correct code is entered, the lock mechanism will release, allowing you to pull the strap free.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and smooth operation of your Hiplok Z LOK Combo:

• Cleaning: Wipe the lock clean with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
• Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the combination dials and locking mechanism to maintain smooth movement, especially after exposure to wet or dusty conditions.
• Storage: Store the lock in a dry place when not in use.

Troubleshooting

• Lock will not open with the correct combination:
  • Ensure each number on the dial is precisely aligned with the indicator marks.
  • Gently wiggle the locking mechanism while entering the code.
  • If the lock was recently reset, double-check that you are using the newly set code, not the old one or the factory default.
• Dials are stiff or difficult to turn:
  • Apply a small amount of silicone lubricant to the dials and work them back and forth.
  • Clean any dirt or debris from around the dials.
• Lock mechanism feels loose or does not engage:
  • Ensure the strap is fully inserted until a click is heard.
  • If the issue persists, contact Hiplok customer support.
