Orient RA-AA0001B19B Sports Watch User Manual

Model: RA-AA0001B19B

Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the proper use and care of your Orient RA-AA0001B19B Sports Watch. This timepiece features a robust stainless steel construction, sapphire crystal, and an automatic F6922 mechanical movement. Designed for reliability and functionality, it is water-resistant to 200 meters, making it suitable for various water sports and daily wear.

Setup and Initial Winding

Your Orient RA-AA0001B19B watch is equipped with an automatic mechanical movement (Caliber F6922) that winds itself through the motion of your wrist. For initial setup or if the watch has stopped, manual winding is required.

  1. Unscrew the Crown: Locate the crown on the right side of the watch case. Rotate the crown counter-clockwise until it is free from the case. This is the normal position.
  2. Manual Winding: In the normal position, turn the crown clockwise approximately 30-40 times. This will provide sufficient power reserve to start the watch.
  3. Setting the Time: Pull the crown out to the second click position. Rotate the crown to set the hour and minute hands. Ensure the AM/PM is correctly set by observing the date change around midnight.
  4. Setting the Day and Date: Push the crown in to the first click position. Rotate the crown clockwise to set the date and counter-clockwise to set the day. Avoid setting the date or day between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, as this can damage the movement.
  5. Secure the Crown: Once time, day, and date are set, push the crown back to the normal position and screw it clockwise firmly against the case. This ensures water resistance.

Bracelet Adjustment

The stainless steel bracelet can be adjusted by removing or adding links. It is recommended to have this procedure performed by a qualified watchmaker to prevent damage to the bracelet or clasp. The watch features a folding clasp with push buttons and a safety latch for secure wearing.

Operating Your Watch

Automatic Movement

The F6922 mechanical movement is self-winding. When worn regularly, the natural motion of your arm keeps the mainspring wound. If the watch is not worn for an extended period (typically 40 hours or more), it will stop and require manual winding as described in the "Setup" section. The movement also supports hacking (stop-seconds function) when setting the time, allowing for precise synchronization.

Unidirectional Rotating Bezel

The watch features a unidirectional rotating bezel. This bezel can be used to measure elapsed time, typically for diving or other timed activities. To use, align the bezel's zero marker with the minute hand at the start of your activity. The minute hand's position on the bezel will then indicate the elapsed time. The unidirectional rotation prevents accidental increases in measured time, which is a safety feature for divers.

Water Resistance (200 Meters / 20 ATM)

Your Orient RA-AA0001B19B watch is water-resistant to 200 meters (20 atmospheres), making it suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and recreational diving.

  • Always ensure the crown is fully screwed down before exposing the watch to water.
  • Do not operate the crown or push buttons (if any) while the watch is wet or submerged.
  • Avoid exposing the watch to hot water, steam, or sudden temperature changes, as this can compromise the seals.
  • Rinse the watch with fresh water after exposure to saltwater to prevent corrosion.

Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning: Wipe the watch case and bracelet regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, ensuring the crown is screwed down.
  • Avoid Chemicals: Do not expose the watch to solvents, detergents, perfumes, or cosmetics, as these can damage the seals, case, or bracelet.
  • Temperature Extremes: Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures (above 60°C / 140°F or below 0°C / 32°F) or sudden temperature changes.
  • Magnetic Fields: Keep the watch away from strong magnetic fields (e.g., speakers, refrigerators, mobile phone cases with magnets), as these can affect the accuracy of the mechanical movement.
  • Service: Mechanical watches require periodic servicing to maintain optimal performance and water resistance. It is recommended to have your watch inspected and serviced by an authorized Orient service center every 3-5 years.

Troubleshooting

  • Watch Has Stopped: If the watch has stopped, it likely needs to be manually wound. Follow the "Manual Winding" steps in the "Setup" section. Ensure you wear the watch regularly for the automatic winding mechanism to function.
  • Inaccurate Time: Mechanical watches have a specified daily accuracy. For the F6922 movement, the daily accuracy is approximately +25/-15 seconds. If the watch deviates significantly beyond this range, it may require adjustment or servicing. Strong magnetic fields can also affect accuracy; try demagnetizing the watch at a service center.
  • Date/Day Not Changing: Ensure the time is set correctly, especially the AM/PM cycle. The date and day typically change between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM. If the issue persists, verify the crown is fully pushed in after setting.
  • Condensation Under Crystal: If you notice condensation inside the watch, this indicates a breach in water resistance. Immediately take the watch to an authorized service center to prevent further damage to the movement.
