Maintenance

Cleaning

To maintain the remote control's functionality and appearance:

  • Wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For stubborn dirt, lightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid excessive moisture.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaning pads, as these can damage the remote's finish or internal components.

Battery Replacement

Replace batteries when the remote's range decreases or buttons become unresponsive. Always replace both AAA batteries at the same time with new ones. Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries.

Storage

If the remote control will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and potential damage to the device.

Troubleshooting

  • Remote is not responding or has limited range:
    • Check the batteries. Ensure they are inserted correctly with the correct polarity (+/-) and are not depleted. Replace with fresh AAA batteries if necessary.
    • Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote control and the television's infrared sensor.
    • Make sure you are within the effective operating range and angle of the television's IR receiver (typically up to 30 feet and a wide angle).
  • Specific buttons are not working:
    • Verify that the remote is pointed directly at the television.
    • Clean the remote control's surface and buttons to ensure no debris is interfering with button presses.
    • If only certain buttons are unresponsive after checking batteries and line of sight, the remote may require replacement.
  • Television does not respond to any remote commands:
    • Confirm the television is powered on and not in standby mode.
    • Try using the physical buttons on the television itself to rule out a TV issue.
    • Ensure the remote is compatible with your specific Dynex TV model (refer to the Compatibility section).
