3. Setup

3.1 Connecting the SSD

  1. Identify the USB-C port on your computer (PC, Mac, or laptop) that supports USB4 or Thunderbolt 3/4. For optimal performance, use a port that supports the highest available speed.
  2. Connect one end of the included USB Type-C data cable to the USB-C port on the GiGimundo G40 SSD.
  3. Connect the other end of the USB Type-C data cable to the compatible USB-C port on your computer. If your computer only has USB-A ports, use the provided USB-C to USB-A adapter with the cable. Note that using a USB-A connection will result in lower transfer speeds.
  4. The SSD will power on automatically upon connection.

3.2 Initializing and Formatting the SSD

The GiGimundo G40 SSD does not require software installation. However, it may need to be initialized and formatted before first use, depending on your operating system and intended use. Follow the instructions for your specific operating system:

For Windows:

  1. Right-click on the Start button and select "Disk Management".
  2. Locate the GiGimundo G40 SSD (it may appear as "Unallocated" or "Not Initialized").
  3. Right-click on the disk and select "Initialize Disk". Choose MBR (Master Boot Record) for drives up to 2TB or GPT (GUID Partition Table) for drives larger than 2TB (GPT is generally recommended for modern systems).
  4. Right-click on the unallocated space and select "New Simple Volume". Follow the wizard to assign a drive letter and format the drive. NTFS is recommended for Windows systems.

For macOS:

  1. Open "Disk Utility" (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility).
  2. Select the GiGimundo G40 SSD from the sidebar.
  3. Click "Erase" from the toolbar.
  4. Choose a Name for the drive, select a Format (e.g., APFS for macOS 10.13 or later, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) for older macOS versions), and a Scheme (GUID Partition Map).
  5. Click "Erase" to confirm.

Once formatted, the SSD will appear as a usable drive on your system.

4. Operating the GiGimundo G40 SSD

4.1 Data Transfer

To transfer files, simply drag and drop them to and from the GiGimundo G40 SSD icon on your desktop or in your file explorer/finder. The G40 is designed for ultra-fast data transfer, making it suitable for large files and demanding applications.

4.2 Using for Creative Workflows

4.3 Safe Removal

Always safely eject the GiGimundo G40 SSD before disconnecting it from your computer to prevent data corruption. This can typically be done by:

  • Windows: Right-click on the drive icon in "This PC" or the system tray icon for "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media", then select the G40 SSD.
  • macOS: Drag the drive icon from your desktop to the Trash, or click the Eject button next to the drive name in Finder.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

Wipe the exterior of the SSD with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the device.

5.2 Heat Management

The GiGimundo G40 features a built-in active turbo cooling fan and CNC machined aluminum casing for efficient heat dissipation. Ensure that the air vents on the SSD are not obstructed during operation to maintain optimal cooling performance.

5.3 Data Backup
