Setup Guide

1. Initial Connection

The Redragon K681 keyboard offers three connection modes: USB-C wired, 2.4GHz wireless, and Bluetooth.

1.1. Wired Connection (USB-C)

  1. Connect the provided USB-C cable to the port on the keyboard.
  2. Connect the USB-A end of the cable to an available USB port on your computer or device.
  3. The keyboard will automatically be recognized and ready for use.

1.2. 2.4GHz Wireless Connection

  1. Locate the 2.4GHz USB dongle (receiver) included in the package.
  2. Plug the USB dongle into an available USB port on your computer or device.
  3. On the left side of the keyboard, locate the mode switch and set it to the "2.4G" position.
  4. Press FN + 4 on the keyboard to activate 2.4G mode. The keyboard should connect automatically.

1.3. Bluetooth Connection (BT 3.0 + 5.0)

The keyboard supports up to three Bluetooth devices.

  1. On the left side of the keyboard, locate the mode switch and set it to the "BT" position.
  2. To pair with a new device, press and hold FN + 1, FN + 2, or FN + 3 for approximately 3 seconds. The corresponding key's backlight will flash rapidly, indicating pairing mode.
  3. On your device (PC, tablet, Xbox, PS4/5), enable Bluetooth and search for "Redragon K681".
  4. Select the keyboard to complete the pairing process. The backlight on the selected FN key will stop flashing and remain solid when connected.
  5. To switch between paired Bluetooth devices, simply press FN + 1, FN + 2, or FN + 3 (short press).

Operating Instructions

2.1. Keyboard Layout and Keys

The Redragon K681 features an 81-key, 75% mechanical keyboard layout, optimizing for portability and space-saving while retaining essential keys.

2.2. Multi-Function Knob

The rotary knob located on the top right of the keyboard provides convenient control:

  • Rotate: Adjusts volume (Volume + / Volume -).
  • Short Press: Toggles sound On/Off (Mute).
  • Long Press: Switches backlighting modes.

2.3. RGB Backlighting Control

The keyboard features 16.8 million color RGB backlighting with various modes.

  • FN + INS: Cycles through 16 different backlight effects.
  • FN + Enter: Adjusts the color of the backlighting (for modes that support color changes).
  • FN + Arrow keys "←" and "→": Adjusts the backlighting speed.
  • FN + Arrow keys "↑" and "↓": Adjusts the brightness of the backlighting (5 levels).
  • FN + Space: Toggles backlighting On/Off.

2.4. System Switching

The keyboard defaults to Windows system. To switch between operating systems:

  • Long press FN + A: Switches to MAC system.
  • Long press FN + W: Switches back to WIN system.

2.5. Battery Level Check

To check the current battery level:

  • FN + ALT: The numeric keys (1-0) will light up to indicate battery percentage.
  • Red color indicates power below 30%.
  • Green color indicates power above 30%.
  • Release the buttons to restore the previous light effect.

2.6. Customization Software

The Redragon K681 is fully programmable via dedicated software. This software allows you to:

  • Edit RGB lighting effects.
  • Customize key functions and assign macros.
  • Change system switches.

Maintenance

3.1. Cleaning the Keyboard

  • Disconnect the keyboard from all power sources before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to wipe down the keycaps and chassis.
  • For deeper cleaning, use the provided keycap puller to remove keycaps and clean underneath with compressed air or a small brush.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive materials, or excessive moisture, as these can damage the keyboard.

3.2. Hot-Swappable Switches

The Redragon K681 features hot-swappable switches, allowing you to easily change them without soldering. It is compatible with most 3-pin and 5-pin mechanical switches.

  1. Using the provided switch puller, gently grip the switch and pull it straight up to remove it.
  2. Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB and press down firmly until it clicks into place. Ensure the pins are not bent.

Troubleshooting

4.1. Keyboard Not Responding

  • Wired Mode: Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and the device. Try a different USB port or cable.
  • 2.4GHz Wireless Mode: Ensure the USB dongle is properly inserted and the keyboard switch is set to "2.4G". Press FN + 4 to re-establish connection. Check battery level.
  • Bluetooth Mode: Ensure the keyboard switch is set to "BT" and the correct Bluetooth channel (FN+1/2/3) is selected. Re-pair the device if necessary. Check battery level.
  • Battery: Charge the keyboard fully using the USB-C cable.

4.2. RGB Backlighting Not Working or Incorrect

  • Ensure backlighting is turned on by pressing FN + Space.
  • Adjust brightness using FN + Arrow Up/Down.
  • Cycle through modes using FN + INS.
  • If issues persist, try resetting the keyboard (refer to software manual for specific reset procedures if available, or disconnect/reconnect).

4.3. Keys Not Registering or Double-Typing

  • This could indicate a faulty switch. Use the switch puller to remove the problematic switch and replace it with a new one.
  • Ensure the switch is fully seated in the socket.
  • Clean any debris around the switch socket.
