4. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for accurate and reliable operation. Follow these steps carefully:

4.1 Safety Precautions

  • Ensure power is disconnected before installation or maintenance.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Verify that the sensor's material compatibility is suitable for the liquid being measured.

4.2 Mounting the Sensor

  1. Select a suitable location for the sensor probe within the liquid container or tank. The probe should be fully submerged in the liquid for accurate measurement.
  2. Ensure the probe is positioned vertically and securely to prevent movement or damage.
  3. Avoid placing the sensor near inlets, outlets, or agitators that could cause turbulence and affect readings.

4.3 Electrical Connections

The sensor requires a DC12-36V power supply and provides a 0-10V or 4-20mA output signal. Refer to the wiring diagram below for proper connections.

  • Power Supply: Connect the positive (+) terminal of the DC12-36V power supply to the sensor's power input (typically red wire). Connect the negative (-) terminal to the sensor's ground (typically blue or black wire).
  • Output Signal: Connect the signal output wire (e.g., yellow or white) to your control system's analog input. Ensure the input impedance of your control system is compatible with the sensor's output type (voltage or current).

Consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure about wiring procedures.

5. Operating Instructions

Once installed and wired correctly, the ZEEGII Level Sensor operates continuously to provide real-time liquid level data.

  1. Power On: Apply power to the sensor. The sensor will begin measuring the liquid level immediately.
  2. Monitor Output: Observe the 0-10V or 4-20mA output signal on your connected control system (PLC, display, etc.). This signal corresponds to the measured liquid level.
  3. Calibration (if necessary): While the sensor is factory calibrated, minor adjustments may be required for specific applications. Refer to your control system's documentation for scaling the analog input to display actual liquid level values (e.g., meters, feet, liters).

The sensor's output signal is linear with the liquid level. For a 0-5m range and 0-10V output:

  • 0m liquid level = 0V output
  • 5m liquid level = 10V output

For a 0-5m range and 4-20mA output:

  • 0m liquid level = 4mA output
  • 5m liquid level = 20mA output

6. Maintenance

The ZEEGII Level Sensor is designed for low maintenance, but periodic checks can ensure long-term accuracy and performance.

  • Cleaning: Due to its anti-blocking design and detachable probe, the sensor is easy to clean. Periodically remove the probe (if safe to do so) and clean any accumulated debris or residue from the sensing element. Use a soft cloth and appropriate cleaning agents compatible with the sensor's materials.
  • Cable Inspection: Regularly inspect the waterproof cable for any signs of damage, cuts, or wear. Ensure all connections remain secure.
  • Environmental Check: Verify that the operating environment remains within the specified temperature and pressure limits.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your ZEEGII Level Sensor, refer to the following troubleshooting guide:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No output signal or incorrect reading
  • No power supply or incorrect voltage.
  • Incorrect wiring connections.
  • Sensor probe not submerged or damaged.
  • Accumulated debris on the sensor.
  • Control system input misconfigured.
  • Verify power supply (DC12-36V) and connections.
  • Check wiring against Section 4.3.
  • Ensure probe is correctly positioned and clean.
  • Clean the sensor probe.
  • Verify control system's analog input settings.
Unstable or fluctuating readings
  • Turbulence in the liquid.
  • Electrical interference.
  • Loose connections.
  • Relocate sensor away from turbulence sources.
  • Ensure proper grounding and shielding of cables.
  • Check and secure all electrical connections.
