5.3 Wiring Instructions

The timer switch comes with pre-attached 2.2 ft wiring leads for convenient installation. Ensure all connections are made inside a suitable electrical enclosure (e.g., junction box, power distribution box) and are protected from the elements.

  1. Identify Wires: The timer has three wires: Black (Line/Supply In), Red (Load/Supply Out), and White (Neutral).
  2. Connect Line (Input Power): Connect the Black wire from the timer to the incoming 120V AC Line (hot) wire from your power source.
  3. Connect Load (Output Power): Connect the Red wire from the timer to the Line (hot) wire of the device you wish to control (e.g., pool light, outdoor outlet).
  4. Connect Neutral: Connect the White wire from the timer to the Neutral wire of your electrical system. A neutral wire connection is essential for the timer to function.
  5. Grounding: Ensure your electrical system is properly grounded according to local codes. The timer itself does not have a separate ground wire, but relies on the grounding of the enclosure it is installed in.
  6. Secure all connections with wire nuts and ensure no bare wires are exposed.
