2. Selecting and Fitting Ear Domes
Properly fitting ear domes are crucial for sound quality and to prevent whistling (feedback).
- Choose an ear dome size that feels comfortable and creates a snug seal in your ear canal. Start with the medium size and adjust as needed.
- Gently attach the selected ear dome to the sound tube of the hearing aid.
- Before inserting, ensure the hearing aid is turned off or the volume is set to the lowest level to prevent feedback whistling.
- Carefully place the hearing aid behind your ear, then guide the ear dome into your ear canal until it feels secure and comfortable.

Adaptation Steps for New Users
It is normal for new hearing aid users to require an adjustment period. Your brain needs time to adapt to new sounds and sounds you may not have heard in a long time. This acclimatization period typically lasts 4 to 8 weeks.

Figure 5: Adaptation Steps for New Users. This visual guide outlines a four-week plan for gradually adjusting to hearing aids, starting with short periods in quiet indoor settings and progressing to full-day use in various environments.
- First Week: Wear 1-2 hours per day in quiet indoor environments. Focus on familiar voices and sounds.
- Second Week: Increase usage to 3-4 hours per day. Begin trying them in quiet outdoor settings.
- Third Week: Wear for longer periods throughout the day. Experiment in public places with moderate background noise.
- Fourth Week and Beyond: Aim for full-day use in all desired environments. Your brain should be more accustomed to the amplified sounds.
