Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.

1. Daily Cleaning

  1. Always unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Remove the permanent filter and discard used coffee grounds. Rinse the permanent filter and filter basket under running water.
  3. Wash the glass carafe and its lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  4. Wipe the exterior surfaces of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  5. Do not immerse the main unit, power cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.

2. Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal)

Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting its performance. Descale your coffee maker every 2-4 weeks, depending on water hardness and frequency of use.

  1. Fill the water tank with a mixture of white vinegar and water (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water).
  2. Place the carafe on the warming plate.
  3. Start a brewing cycle without coffee grounds.
  4. After about half the mixture has brewed through, turn off the coffee maker and let it stand for 15-20 minutes to allow the solution to work.
  5. Turn the coffee maker back on and let the remaining mixture brew through.
  6. Discard the vinegar solution.
  7. Run 2-3 full cycles with fresh, clean water to rinse out any remaining vinegar taste or odor.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Coffee maker does not turn on. Not plugged in; power outage; faulty outlet. Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a working outlet. Check circuit breaker.
Coffee does not brew. No water in tank; filter basket not properly seated; brew button not pressed. Fill water tank. Ensure filter basket is correctly in place. Press the brew button.
Coffee tastes weak or too strong. Incorrect coffee-to-water ratio; coffee too finely or coarsely ground. Adjust the amount of coffee grounds. Use medium-ground coffee.
Water overflows from filter basket. Too much coffee grounds; filter clogged; carafe not on warming plate. Reduce coffee grounds. Clean permanent filter. Ensure carafe is correctly positioned.
Slow brewing. Mineral buildup (scaling). Perform a descaling cycle as described in the Maintenance section.
