3. Product Overview

The ORIGPARTS Type 634/0085-21 Hose and Regulator assembly provides a safe and controlled gas supply from a propane cylinder to your Weber Gas Barbecue. It is designed to reduce the high pressure of the gas cylinder to a safe and consistent operating pressure of 37 millibars (mb) required by compatible barbecues.

4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps carefully to connect the hose and regulator to your gas cylinder and barbecue:

  1. Ensure Gas Cylinder is Off: Verify that the valve on your propane gas cylinder is fully closed.
  2. Connect to Barbecue: Attach the threaded end of the hose (without the regulator) to the gas inlet connection on your Weber Gas Barbecue. Hand-tighten first, then use a wrench to secure it firmly. Do not overtighten.
  3. Connect Regulator to Cylinder: Attach the regulator end to the valve of your propane gas cylinder. Ensure the connection is straight and then hand-tighten the coupling nut. Use a wrench to tighten it securely.
  4. Perform Leak Test:
    • Mix a solution of soapy water (50% liquid dish soap, 50% water).
    • Ensure all barbecue burner control knobs are in the 'OFF' position.
    • Slowly open the gas cylinder valve.
    • Apply the soapy water solution to all connections (cylinder to regulator, hose to barbecue).
    • Observe for bubbles. The presence of bubbles indicates a gas leak.
    • If a leak is detected, immediately close the gas cylinder valve. Re-tighten connections and repeat the leak test. If leaks persist, do not use the product and contact the manufacturer or a qualified technician.
    • If no bubbles appear, the connections are secure.
  5. Ready for Use: Your hose and regulator assembly is now ready for operation.

5. Operating Instructions

To operate your gas barbecue with the ORIGPARTS hose and regulator:

  1. Open Gas Supply: Slowly open the valve on the propane gas cylinder.
  2. Ignite Barbecue: Follow your Weber Gas Barbecue's specific instructions for lighting the burners.
  3. Adjust Flame: Use the barbecue's control knobs to adjust the flame intensity as desired.
  4. Shut Down: When finished cooking, first turn all barbecue burner control knobs to the 'OFF' position. Then, close the valve on the propane gas cylinder completely. Allow any remaining gas in the hose to burn off before fully disconnecting.

6. Maintenance and Care

Regular inspection and proper care will ensure the longevity and safe operation of your hose and regulator:

  • Visual Inspection: Before each use, visually inspect the entire hose for cuts, abrasions, cracks, or excessive wear. Check the regulator body for any damage or corrosion.
  • Leak Test: Perform a leak test (as described in Section 4) at the beginning of each grilling season and whenever the gas cylinder is changed or connections are disturbed.
  • Cleaning: Clean the exterior of the hose and regulator with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the hose and regulator in a clean, dry place, protected from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If disconnecting from the cylinder, ensure the cylinder valve is closed and capped (if applicable).
  • Replacement: Replace the hose and regulator assembly if any damage is found, if it shows signs of leakage, or if it is past its recommended service life (typically indicated on the hose or regulator).

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your hose and regulator, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No gas flow or low flameGas cylinder valve closed
Regulator not properly connected
Gas cylinder empty
Excess flow safety device activated
Open cylinder valve fully
Ensure regulator is securely tightened
Replace gas cylinder
Close cylinder valve, disconnect regulator, wait 5 minutes, reconnect, and slowly open valve
Gas leak detected (bubbles during leak test)Loose connections
Damaged hose or regulator
Close cylinder valve, re-tighten all connections, re-test. If leak persists, replace the assembly.
Hose appears damagedWear and tear, exposure to heat/sharp objectsImmediately replace the entire hose and regulator assembly. Do not attempt to repair.

If troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, discontinue use and contact a qualified service technician or the product supplier.
