1. Introduction

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the safe and effective installation, operation, and maintenance of your VALIKIY 4-Pack LED Backlight Sheet. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and retain it for future reference.

The VALIKIY LED Backlight Sheet is a flexible, dimmable LED panel designed for backlighting translucent materials such as stone, marble, onyx, and quartz countertops or walls. Each sheet provides bright, even, warm white illumination.

2. Safety Information

  • Electrical Safety: Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or a knowledgeable individual familiar with electrical wiring. Always disconnect power before installation or maintenance.
  • Voltage: This product operates on 24V DC. Do not connect directly to 120V AC or any other voltage. An appropriate 24V DC power supply (not included) is required.
  • Environment: This product is designed for indoor use in dry locations. Avoid exposure to moisture, high humidity, or extreme temperatures.
  • Handling: Handle the LED sheets carefully. Do not bend excessively or apply sharp pressure to the LED components.
  • Heat Dissipation: Ensure adequate ventilation around the installed LED sheets to prevent overheating, which can reduce lifespan.

5. Setup and Installation

5.1. Preparation

  1. Power Supply: A 24V DC power supply is required and is not included in this package. Ensure your power supply is rated for the total wattage of all connected LED sheets.
  2. Surface Testing: For translucent materials thinner than 1/4 inch (7mm), test the surface to assess potential light spotting. For materials thicker than 3/4 inch (19mm), light spotting is generally not an issue.
  3. Layout Planning: Plan the arrangement of your LED sheets to cover the desired area. Consider the flexibility and cuttable nature of the sheets for custom shapes.

5.2. Physical Installation

The LED sheets are designed for versatility:

  • Flexibility: The sheets can be gently bent to conform to curved surfaces or around corners.
  • Cuttable: Sheets can be trimmed to your desired length. Cut only along the designated cut lines, which are marked every 0.87 inches (22mm). Cutting elsewhere will damage the circuit.
  • Connectable (Daisy-chain): Multiple sheets can be connected using the provided connection wires to create larger illuminated areas.

Mounting: The LED light sheets provide 3M adhesive on the back for direct application. For additional security or on uneven surfaces, use the provided mounting screws and silicon bumpers.

5.3. Electrical Wiring

All VALIKIY LED light sheets require a 24V DC power supply and/or controller to operate. Below are common wiring configurations:

  • Direct Wiring: Connect the positive (+) output of your 24V DC power supply to the red wire of the LED sheet's input cable. Connect the negative (-) output to the black wire.
  • TRIAC Dimming Wiring: If using a TRIAC/ELV dimmer, it must be installed on the 120V AC input side of a dimmable 24V DC power supply. Follow the dimmer and power supply manufacturer's instructions.
  • 0-10V Dimming Wiring: For 0-10V dimming, connect the dimmer's output to the corresponding dimming input terminals on a 0-10V dimmable 24V DC power supply.
  • Connecting Multiple Sheets: Use the provided connection wires to link sheets in series or parallel, ensuring total current draw does not exceed the power supply's capacity. For large projects, an amplifier may be needed.

6. Operating Instructions

Once properly installed and wired to a 24V DC power supply, the LED backlight sheets will illuminate when power is supplied.

  • Power On/Off: Control the power to the LED sheets via the switch connected to your 24V DC power supply.
  • Dimming: If a compatible dimmer has been installed (TRIAC or 0-10V), adjust the dimmer to control the brightness of the LED sheets.
  • Smart Lighting: For smart lighting systems, integrate an LED controller compatible with 24V DC systems.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Ensure the power is off before cleaning. Gently wipe the surface of the LED sheets with a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect wiring and connections for any signs of wear or damage.
  • Environment: Maintain a dry and stable environment to prolong the lifespan of the LED sheets.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Light:
    • Check if the 24V DC power supply is receiving power and is functioning correctly.
    • Verify all wiring connections are secure and correct (positive to positive, negative to negative).
    • Ensure the LED sheet has not been cut incorrectly (only cut along marked lines).
  • Uneven Light / Light Spots:
    • This can occur with very thin translucent materials (e.g., glass or quartz below 1/4 inch / 7mm). Consider adding a diffuser layer between the LED sheet and the translucent material.
    • Ensure the LED sheets are mounted flat and evenly.
  • Flickering:
    • Check the power supply for stability.
    • If using a dimmer, ensure it is compatible with LED products and the 24V DC power supply.
