2. Safety Information

Read all instructions carefully before installation and operation. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or property damage.

  • Electrical Safety: Ensure the pump is connected to a properly grounded 115V AC outlet. It is recommended to use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protected outlet. Do not operate the pump with a damaged power cord or plug. Do not immerse the motor in water.
  • Water Safety: This pump is designed for condensate water removal only. Do not use it for flammable liquids, corrosive chemicals, or potable water. Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks.
  • Installation: Install the pump in a horizontal position on a stable surface. Improper installation can affect performance and safety. If connecting the safety switch to an HVAC system, consult a qualified professional to ensure correct wiring.
  • Maintenance: Disconnect power before performing any maintenance or cleaning.

5. Installation

5.1 Before Installation

Before operating the pump for the first time, locate and remove the black safety buckle. This buckle is typically found on the side of the reservoir and must be removed to allow the float switch to operate correctly.

5.2 Placement

Place the condensate pump on a stable, horizontal surface. The integrated gradienter (bubble level) on the pump's plate will assist in ensuring proper horizontal alignment. Correct placement is crucial for the accurate operation of the float switch and efficient drainage.

5.3 Connecting Water Inlets

The pump features three 1.1-inch (I.D.) water inlets, allowing connection to multiple condensate-producing appliances. Connect the drainage tubing from your air conditioner, dehumidifier, or other appliance to one or more of these inlets. Ensure a secure connection to prevent leaks.

5.4 Connecting Water Outlet

Connect a 7/16-inch to 2/5-inch I.D. drainage tube to the 2/5-inch O.D. barbed outlet. The outlet includes a built-in check valve to prevent backflow. Route the drainage tube to a suitable drain point, ensuring it is free of kinks and has a continuous downward slope if possible, or an unobstructed path if pumping upwards.

5.5 Electrical Connection

Plug the pump's 6.5-foot power cord into a standard 115V AC electrical outlet. For enhanced safety, it is highly recommended to use a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) protected outlet.

5.6 Safety Switch Connection

The pump is equipped with an automatic safety switch. This switch has two black wires that can be connected to your HVAC system's low-voltage (24V) control circuit. When the water level in the reservoir exceeds a safe limit, the safety switch will open the circuit, shutting off the connected appliance (e.g., air conditioner, furnace) to prevent water overflow.

Important: Wiring the safety switch incorrectly can damage your HVAC system or the pump. If you are unsure about the wiring process, it is strongly recommended to consult a qualified HVAC professional for installation.

6. Operation

6.1 Automatic Drainage

The MSELTOS condensate pump operates automatically. As condensate water collects in the transparent reservoir, an internal float switch detects the water level. When the water reaches a predetermined level, the pump activates, draining the water through the outlet tube. The pump will continue to run until the water level drops below the activation point, then it will shut off.

6.2 Safety Switch Function

In the event of a pump malfunction or an unusually high influx of condensate, the secondary safety float switch will activate. If wired to your HVAC system, this switch will interrupt the control circuit, causing the connected appliance to shut down. This prevents the reservoir from overflowing and potentially causing water damage.

6.3 Dual Drainage Float Switch Design

The pump incorporates a dual float switch system. The primary drainage float switch initiates normal pumping operations. A secondary safety float switch acts as a backup. If the primary switch fails or is unable to trigger the pump, the safety float switch will activate to prevent overflow, either by initiating pumping or by triggering the external safety shutdown if wired to the HVAC system.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Reservoir Cleaning

Regular cleaning of the transparent reservoir is recommended to prevent the accumulation of dirt, sludge, and microbial growth, which can lead to clogging and reduced pump efficiency. The transparent design allows for easy visual inspection of the water level and internal cleanliness.

To clean, disconnect the pump from power, detach the water inlet and outlet tubes, and carefully remove the reservoir. Clean with mild soap and water, rinse thoroughly, and reassemble. It is recommended to clean the reservoir every 6 months, or more frequently depending on usage and water quality.

7.2 Motor Longevity

The pump is equipped with a durable motor featuring NMB ball bearings from Japan, designed for a long service life of over 15,000 hours of continuous operation. This robust construction ensures reliable performance in various environments.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your MSELTOS condensate pump, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Pump Not Running:
    • Check if the pump is properly plugged into a live 115V outlet.
    • Verify that the black safety buckle has been removed.
    • Ensure the water level in the reservoir is high enough to activate the float switch.
    • Check for any obstructions in the reservoir or around the float switch.
  • Pump Running Continuously:
    • Inspect the outlet tubing for kinks, blockages, or an excessive vertical lift that exceeds the pump's maximum head.
    • Ensure the check valve in the outlet is functioning correctly and not allowing water to flow back into the reservoir.
    • Clean the reservoir and float switch to ensure they are free of debris.
  • Leaks:
    • Check all water inlet and outlet connections for tightness.
    • Inspect the reservoir for cracks or damage.
  • Safety Switch Not Activating:
    • Ensure the safety switch wires are correctly connected to your HVAC system.
    • Verify that the float switch mechanism for the safety shutdown is not obstructed.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, or if you suspect a more complex problem, it is advisable to contact customer support or a qualified technician.
