2. Operating Instructions

2.1 Preparing the Machine

  1. Place the machine on a stable, non-slip surface.
  2. Ensure the crank arm is in the upright position, opening the tobacco chamber.

2.2 Loading Tobacco

  1. Evenly distribute your preferred dry, cut tobacco into the tobacco chamber. Do not overfill.
  2. Use the provided tobacco pressing tool to gently and evenly pack the tobacco. Avoid excessive compression at this stage.

2.3 Inserting the Cigarette Tube

  1. Slide an empty King size or 100mm cigarette tube onto the metal nozzle on the side of the machine. Ensure it is fully seated and secure.

2.4 Injecting Tobacco

  1. Hold the machine firmly with one hand.

4. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Hawk-Matic HK1C, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Tobacco not injecting properly:
Ensure the tobacco is dry and cut to an appropriate consistency. Overly moist or coarse tobacco can cause blockages. Do not overpack the chamber; fill it evenly and gently. Check the nozzle and internal mechanism for any tobacco blockages and clear them with the cleaning probe.
  • Cigarette tube tearing or not filling completely:
Make sure the cigarette tube is fully and securely seated on the nozzle before operating the crank arm. Avoid using excessive force when pulling the lever; a smooth, continuous motion is best. Ensure the tobacco is not too tightly packed in the chamber, which can cause resistance and tearing.
  • Machine jamming:
This often occurs due to overfilling the tobacco chamber or using tobacco that is too moist. Reduce the amount of tobacco loaded and ensure it is dry. If the machine jams, gently return the crank arm to the upright position, remove any tobacco, and clear any obstructions before attempting to operate again.
  • Loose or unevenly filled cigarettes:
Adjust the quantity and packing density of the tobacco in the chamber. Experiment with different amounts and levels of compression using the tobacco pressing tool until you achieve your desired cigarette density.
