Instruction Manual

Model: 1

Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your WildFinder Hard Shell Rooftop Tent. Please read carefully before use to ensure safe and optimal performance. This tent is designed for 2-3 persons and is suitable for various vehicles including Jeeps, SUVs, Trucks, and Vans.

1. Setup

Proper installation is crucial for the safety and stability of your rooftop tent. Follow these steps carefully.

1.1 Mounting the Tent to Your Vehicle

The WildFinder Rooftop Tent is designed for secure attachment to your vehicle's roof rack system. Ensure your roof rack has adequate load capacity for the tent's weight (Net Weight: 169.4 lbs, Gross Weight: 235.9 lbs).

  1. Prepare Mounting Hardware: Thread the provided screws into the iron pieces.
  2. Position the Tent: Carefully lift the tent onto your vehicle's roof rack. It is recommended to have at least two people for this step due to the tent's weight and size.
  3. Align and Secure: Place the iron pieces into the slide channels on the tent's base. Lift the side of the tent slightly to align the screws with your luggage racks.
  4. Tighten Fasteners: Put the remaining iron pieces and nuts onto the screws from underneath the roof rack and screw them tightly. Attention: Lock until the iron piece is slightly bent, indicating a secure fit.

  2. Automatic Rise: Gently push up the tent, and the pneumatic struts will assist in raising the top shell, opening the tent automatically in approximately 30 seconds.

To close the tent, reverse the opening process:

  1. Remove Accessories: Take down the support bars and shoe organizer.
  2. Tuck Fabric: Carefully tuck all tent fabric inwards to ensure it does not get caught in the closing mechanism or seals.
  3. Lower Shell: Gently pull down the top shell until it closes completely. The pneumatic struts will assist in a controlled descent.
  4. Secure Latches: Fasten all security latches to ensure the tent is securely closed for travel.

3. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will prolong the life of your WildFinder Rooftop Tent.

  • Cleaning: Clean the tent fabric and hard shell with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Ensure the tent is completely dry before closing or storing to prevent mold and mildew.
  • Seals and Zippers: Periodically inspect all seals and zippers for wear or damage. Lubricate zippers with a silicone-based spray if they become stiff.
  • Condensation Management: Utilize the condensation pad and ensure adequate ventilation, especially in humid or cold conditions, to minimize condensation buildup inside the tent.
  • Hardware Check: Regularly check all mounting hardware, bolts, and struts for tightness and signs of corrosion. Tighten as necessary. The stainless steel air pressure lever is designed for durability and rust resistance.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the tent in a cool, dry place, ideally covered to protect it from prolonged exposure to elements.

4. Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to some common issues you might encounter:

IssuePossible Cause / Solution
Water Leaks Inside TentEnsure all fabric is properly tucked into the seals when closing. Check for any tears or damage to the fabric or seals. The tent is rated 5000 MM Rainproof, so proper closure is key.
Condensation BuildupEnsure adequate ventilation by partially opening windows (with mesh screens) when possible. The condensation pad helps, but airflow is essential.
Whistling Noise at Highway SpeedsThis can be common with rooftop tents. Ensure the tent is securely mounted and all latches are fully closed. Adjusting the position on the roof rack might help minimize noise.
Mounting Bolts Too ShortWhile standard bolts are provided, some roof rack configurations may require longer carriage bolts. These can typically be sourced from a local hardware store.
Difficulty Closing TentEnsure all fabric is fully tucked inside the shell before attempting to close. The gas struts are strong, requiring firm but controlled pressure to close.
