5. Assembly and Setup

Follow these steps to assemble your MT705 Metal Detector:

  1. Attach the Search Coil: Secure the search coil to the lower stem using the provided fasteners.
  2. Connect the Stems: Insert the lower stem into the middle stem, and then connect the middle stem to the upper stem (which includes the control housing and armrest). Ensure all connections are firm.
  3. Adjust Length: Adjust the length of the stem to a comfortable height using the adjustment mechanisms. The total length can be extended up to 1.41m.
  4. Install Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the control housing and insert 4 AA batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity. Close the compartment securely.
  5. Wrap Cable: Carefully wrap the search coil cable around the stem, ensuring it is not too tight or loose, and plug it into the designated port on the control housing.

6. Operation

6.1 Powering On and Basic Settings

  • Press the power button to turn on the detector. The LCD screen will illuminate.
  • Adjust sensitivity using the designated controls to suit your environment. Higher sensitivity increases detection depth but may also increase false signals.
  • Select the desired operating frequency (3kHz, 7.5kHz, or 18.75kHz) based on the target type and ground conditions. Lower frequencies are generally better for larger, deeper targets, while higher frequencies are better for smaller targets and gold nuggets.

6.2 Detection Modes

The MT705 offers specialized detection modes:

  • Coin and Treasure Mode: This mode is optimized for detecting common items such as coins, jewelry, and relics. It typically offers discrimination features to filter out unwanted metals.
  • Prospecting Mode: Specifically designed for finding gold nuggets and small relics. This mode often operates with higher sensitivity to detect tiny targets.

6.3 Pinpoint Function

Once a target is detected, press the pinpoint button to narrow down its exact location. Move the search coil slowly over the target area until the signal is strongest and most stable, indicating the center of the target.

6.4 Operating in Water

The search coil of the MT705 is waterproof, allowing for detection in shallow water. However, the control housing is not waterproof and must be kept dry at all times. Ensure the coil cable connection to the control housing is secure and dry before operating near water.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the detector with a damp cloth. For the search coil, rinse off any dirt or debris. Ensure the control housing remains dry.
  • Storage: Store the detector in a cool, dry place when not in use. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the LCD screen. Always use fresh, high-quality AA batteries.
  • Cable Inspection: Regularly check the search coil cable for any signs of wear or damage.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1 No Power

  • Check if batteries are correctly installed with proper polarity.
  • Replace old or depleted batteries with new ones.

8.2 False Signals or Erratic Behavior

  • Reduce sensitivity settings, especially in highly mineralized ground or areas with electromagnetic interference.
  • Ensure the search coil cable is securely connected and not damaged.
  • Move away from power lines, cell phones, or other electronic devices that may cause interference.

8.3 Poor Detection Depth

  • Increase sensitivity if conditions allow.
  • Ensure the search coil is parallel to the ground during sweeps.
  • Check battery levels; low batteries can affect performance.
