Model: SM3106

Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and effective use of your SUZUME 3PCS Torque Wrench Set. This set includes 1/4-inch, 3/8-inch, and 1/2-inch drive torque wrenches, designed for precise torque application in various maintenance tasks for bicycles, motorcycles, and cars. Please read this manual thoroughly before operation and retain it for future reference.

Safety Information

Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent injury or damage to the tool or workpiece:

  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses.
  • Do not use the torque wrench as a breaker bar.
  • Do not exceed the maximum torque capacity of the wrench.
  • Ensure the wrench is clean and free from oil or grease before use.
  • After use, always return the torque setting to the lowest value (but not below the lowest specified setting) to relieve spring tension and maintain calibration accuracy.
  • Store the torque wrench in its protective case in a dry, clean environment.

Product Features

  • Durable Material: Constructed from CR-V steel for durability, with a chrome-plated finish for corrosion and wear resistance. Features a lightweight aluminum alloy handle for comfortable operation.
  • High Accuracy: Each wrench maintains an accuracy of ±3% after over 10,000 repeated uses, ensuring reliable and precise torque application.
  • Audible Click Mechanism: Designed with a bi-directional ratchet head that produces a clear "click" sound and vibration when the preset torque value is reached, preventing over-tightening.
  • Dual-Scales: Clearly visible, laser-printed torque scales (Ft.Lb and N.m or In.Lb and N.m) allow for easy setting and reading of torque values, ensuring long-term legibility.
  • Reversible Ratchet Head: Allows for torque application in both clockwise and counter-clockwise directions. Includes a quick-release button for easy socket changes.

Setup

  1. Unlocking the Handle: Grip the handle and rotate the locking knob at the base of the handle counter-clockwise to unlock the torque setting mechanism.
  2. Setting the Torque Value:
    • Rotate the handle to align the desired main torque value on the main scale with the edge of the locking knob.
    • Then, rotate the handle further until the desired additional torque value on the micrometer scale aligns with the center line of the main scale.
    • Example: To set 23 Ft.Lb, align '20' on the main scale, then rotate the handle until '3' on the micrometer scale aligns with the center line.
  3. Locking the Handle: Once the desired torque is set, rotate the locking knob clockwise until it is firmly tightened. This secures the setting and prevents accidental changes during use.
  4. Attaching a Socket: Select the appropriate socket for your fastener. Press the quick-release button on the ratchet head and firmly attach the socket. Ensure it is securely seated.

Operating Instructions

  1. Select Drive Direction: Use the lever on the ratchet head to select the desired direction (clockwise for tightening, counter-clockwise for loosening, though torque measurement is typically for tightening).
  2. Apply Torque: Place the socket onto the fastener. Apply smooth, steady pressure to the wrench handle. Do not use sudden jerking motions.
  3. Listen for the Click: Continue applying pressure until you hear and feel a distinct "click" from the wrench. This indicates that the preset torque value has been reached.
  4. Stop Applying Force: Immediately stop applying force once the click is detected. Further tightening will result in over-torquing and potential damage.
  5. Remove Wrench: Remove the wrench from the fastener.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the wrench clean with a soft, dry cloth after each use. Do not use solvents or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish or internal components.
  • Storage: Always reset the torque wrench to its lowest setting (but not below the lowest specified setting) before storing. Store the wrench in its protective case in a dry, temperature-controlled environment to prevent rust and maintain calibration.
  • Calibration: Torque wrenches are precision instruments and should be recalibrated periodically, typically once a year or after significant impact or heavy use, to ensure continued accuracy. Refer to the included Certificate of Calibration for details.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Wrench does not "click"Torque setting too low; Wrench used too quickly; Wrench is faulty.Ensure torque is set correctly. Apply force slowly and steadily. If problem persists, seek professional recalibration or replacement.
Inaccurate torque readingsWrench is out of calibration; Improper use (e.g., using extensions not designed for torque wrenches, side loading).Have the wrench recalibrated. Use only approved extensions. Apply force directly to the handle.
Handle difficult to adjust or lockDirt or debris in mechanism; Handle not fully unlocked.Clean the handle and locking mechanism. Ensure the locking knob is fully disengaged before adjusting.
