5.3 Charging and Discharging
Ensure the charging source (e.g., solar charger, AC charger) is compatible with 48V LiFePO4 batteries. The built-in BMS will manage optimal charging and discharging parameters. Avoid over-discharging the battery beyond its recommended depth of discharge to prolong its lifespan.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Storage
If storing the battery for an extended period, ensure it is charged to approximately 50-70% of its capacity. Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Periodically check the battery's state of charge during storage and recharge if necessary.
6.2 Low-Temperature Protection
The battery's BMS includes low-temperature cut-off protection for both charging and discharging:
- Charging: Charging stops below 0°C (32°F) and resumes at or above 0°C (32°F).
- Discharging: Discharging stops below -30°C (-22°F).

Figure 6.1: Low-temperature cut-off protection thresholds.
6.3 Cleaning
Keep the battery terminals and casing clean and free from dust and debris. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
7. Troubleshooting
The intelligent 200A BMS provides comprehensive protection against various electrical faults. If the battery is not functioning as expected, refer to the following common issues and their potential causes:
- No Power Output: Check if the battery is turned on. Verify cable connections are secure and correct. The BMS may have activated a protection mode (e.g., over-discharge, short circuit).
- Not Charging: Ensure the charger is connected correctly and is compatible. Check for low-temperature cut-off if the ambient temperature is below 0°C (32°F). The BMS may have activated overcharge protection if the battery is already full.
- Abnormal Temperature: Ensure adequate ventilation around the battery. The BMS will activate high/low temperature cut-off if temperatures exceed safe operating limits.
The BMS protects against:
- Over-Discharge
- Over-Charge
- Over-Current
- Short Circuit
- Low/High Temperature Cut-off
If the issue persists after checking these points, contact NewtiPower customer support.
