3. Setup and Assembly

3.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all parts are present and undamaged. The package should include the tripod body, ball head, GM34 quick release plate, and a carry bag.

3.2 Attaching the Ball Head

The ball head comes pre-attached to the tripod. If it needs to be re-attached or replaced, ensure the 3/8" screw on the tripod's center column is securely fastened to the ball head's base.

3.3 Attaching the Quick Release Plate to Your Camera

  1. Locate the GM34 quick release plate.
  2. Align the 1/4" screw on the plate with the tripod mount thread on the bottom of your camera.
  3. Turn the screw clockwise until the plate is securely fastened to your camera. Ensure it is tight to prevent camera rotation.

3.4 Extending the Tripod Legs

  1. Release the spring-loaded flip buckles on each leg section.
  2. Extend the leg sections to the desired length.
  3. Securely close the flip buckles to lock the leg sections in place. Ensure all buckles are fully closed before placing equipment on the tripod.

3.5 Adjusting Leg Angles

Each leg has an angle selector mechanism near the top. Press the angle selector to choose one of the three fixed angles (22°, 55°, or 70°). This allows for stable positioning on uneven surfaces or for low-angle shots.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Mounting Your Camera

  1. Ensure the quick release clamp on the ball head is open.
  2. With the GM34 quick release plate attached to your camera, slide the camera into the clamp base from any direction.
  3. Once the plate is seated, close the quick release clamp lever firmly to secure the camera. Verify the camera is stable before releasing your grip.

4.2 Adjusting the Ball Head

  • Quick Leveling: The ball head allows for a +/-15° quick leveling adjustment. Use the dedicated lever or knob to fine-tune the horizontal level of your camera without adjusting the tripod legs.
  • Tilt Adjustment: The dual U slots enable 90° tilt for vertical shooting. Loosen the main locking knob, adjust the camera to the desired angle, and then firmly tighten the knob.
  • Panoramic Rotation: The 360° panoramic base allows for smooth rotation. Loosen the panoramic lock knob (if separate) to rotate the camera horizontally, then tighten to secure.

4.3 Reversing the Center Column (Macro Photography)

  1. Remove the ball head from the top of the center column.
  2. Fully extend the center column.
  3. Pull the center column out from the tripod chassis.
  4. Flip the center column upside down and reinsert it into the tripod chassis.
  5. Reattach the ball head to the bottom (now top) of the reversed center column. This allows for extremely low-angle shots or macro photography.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After use, especially in dusty, sandy, or wet environments, wipe down the tripod with a clean, damp cloth. For carbon fiber legs, use a soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Drying: If the tripod gets wet, extend all leg sections and allow them to air dry completely before collapsing and storing to prevent corrosion.
  • Lubrication: Do not apply lubricants to the leg locking mechanisms or ball head unless specifically instructed by the manufacturer. This can attract dirt and impair function.
  • Storage: Store the tripod in a cool, dry place, preferably in its carry bag, to protect it from dust and damage.
  • Regular Checks: Periodically check all screws and connections for tightness. Do not overtighten.
