3. Setup and Installation
The Moto Watchdog Hardwire GPS Tracker is designed for quick and straightforward installation. Follow these steps carefully to ensure proper functionality.
3.1 Wiring Instructions
The device requires connection to your vehicle's power source. A fuse is included for protection.
- Red Wire (Positive): Connect the red wire to a constant 12V-24V positive power source in your vehicle. This is typically found at the battery's positive terminal or a constant fuse box connection. Ensure the included 2A fuse is installed in this line.
- Black Wire (Negative): Connect the black wire to a reliable ground point on your vehicle's chassis or the battery's negative terminal.
- Orange Wire (ACC - Optional): Connect the orange wire to an Accessory (ACC) power source. This connection allows the device to detect when the vehicle's ignition is on or off, enabling features like trip start/end notifications. If not connected, the device will still track but may not provide ignition-based alerts.
- Yellow Wire (Unused): The yellow wire is for a fuel relay feature that is not currently utilized by this model. Leave this wire disconnected and properly insulated to prevent short circuits.
