Safety Information
Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent injury or damage to the equipment:
- Ensure the power supply matches the unit's requirements (110-240V).
- Do not operate the unit in damp or wet conditions.
- Always use the hot air pencil holder when the tool is not in use to activate standby mode and prevent accidental burns.
- Allow the unit to cool down completely before storing or performing maintenance.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Use in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling fumes from soldering materials.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses.
Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect for any signs of damage.
- Placement: Place the rework station on a stable, heat-resistant surface with adequate ventilation.
- Connect Hot Air Pencil: Connect the hot air pencil cable to the designated port on the front of the main unit.
- Assemble Holder: Assemble the multi-functional holder as shown in Figure 6.
- Install Nozzle: Select the appropriate hot air nozzle for your task. Insert the nozzle firmly onto the hot air pencil. Ensure the marking line on the heating element reaches the rim of the handpiece's receptacle for correct installation.

Operating Instructions
Power On/Off
Locate the power switch on the front panel. Flip the switch to the "ON" position to power on the unit. The LCD display will illuminate. To power off, flip the switch to the "OFF" position.
Adjusting Temperature and Air Volume
- Temperature Adjustment: Use the rotary knob to adjust the temperature. The temperature range is 212°F to 896°F. The display will show the current temperature.
- Air Volume Adjustment: The rotary knob also controls the air volume. Turn the knob to increase or decrease the airflow. Air volume levels range from 1 to 16.

Using Preset Channels
The YIHUA 8509-I features 3 customizable preset channels (CH1, CH2, CH3). You can save your preferred temperature and air volume settings to these channels for quick access.
- To Save a Preset: Adjust the temperature and air volume to your desired settings. Press and hold one of the preset buttons (CH1, CH2, or CH3) until the display confirms the setting has been saved.
- To Recall a Preset: Simply press the corresponding preset button (CH1, CH2, or CH3) to instantly load the saved settings.
Standby Mode
The unit automatically enters standby mode when the hot air pencil is placed in its holder. In standby mode, the temperature cools to 212°F, reducing wear on the heating element and extending its lifespan. When the hot air pencil is removed from the holder, it will rapidly heat back to the last set operating temperature.
Quick-Access Button
The hot air pencil handpiece features a shortcut button. A single press activates "Cool Air Mode" for cleaning dust off circuit boards. Pressing and holding the button activates or deactivates manual standby mode without needing to place the handpiece in the holder.

Tiltable Display
The LCD display on the main unit is tiltable, allowing you to adjust its angle for optimal viewing regardless of your working position or elevation. This improves user comfort and reduces strain during detailed soldering and rework tasks.

Figure 5: The tiltable display provides clear visibility of temperature, air volume, and channel settings from various angles.
Nozzles and Holder
The YIHUA 8509-I comes with 8 YIHUA W575 Series Hot Air Nozzles, ranging from 0.5mm to 4.0mm. These millimeter-grade precision nozzles ensure highly targeted heat delivery, crucial for delicate SMD rework. The multi-functional holder provides convenient storage for the hot air pencil, nozzles, and small components, keeping your workspace organized.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Regularly wipe down the unit and hot air pencil with a soft, dry cloth. Ensure the unit is unplugged and cool before cleaning.
- Nozzle Care: Clean nozzles after each use to prevent residue buildup. Replace worn or damaged nozzles promptly to maintain performance.
- Storage: Store the rework station in a clean, dry environment when not in use. Always place the hot air pencil in its holder to activate standby mode.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Unit does not power on. | Power cable disconnected; power switch off; no power from outlet. | Check power cable connection; ensure power switch is ON; test outlet with another device. |
