Your Guide to Effective Pain Relief

1. Introduction

The UltraCare PRO TENS 1.0 (ARC) is a Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) device designed for temporary relief of pain associated with sore and aching muscles in the shoulder, waist, back, neck, upper extremities (arm), and lower extremities (leg) due to strain from exercise or normal household and work activities. It is a portable, battery-operated device that delivers small electrical pulses to the body via electrode pads placed on the skin.

This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your TENS 1.0 (ARC) device. Please read it thoroughly before first use and keep it for future reference.

2. Important Safety Information

WARNING: Consult your physician before using this device, especially if you have any pre-existing medical conditions, are pregnant, have a pacemaker, or any implanted metallic or electronic device.

  • Do not use this device if you have a pacemaker, implanted defibrillator, or other implanted metallic or electronic device.
  • Do not use on open wounds, rashes, or irritated skin.
  • Do not use near the heart, on the head, face, or throat.
  • Do not use while driving or operating heavy machinery.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Discontinue use if you experience any adverse reactions and consult your physician.
  • This device is for external use only.

4. Device Overview

Familiarize yourself with the components and controls of your TENS 1.0 (ARC) device:

  • Power ON Button: Turns the device on or off.
  • LCD Display: Shows current mode, intensity, time, and battery status.
  • Treatment Program Selection Buttons (Up/Down): Navigates through the 25 available modes.
  • Time Selection Button: Adjusts the treatment duration.
  • Increasing Intensity Button (Channel 1 & 2): Increases the intensity for the respective channel.
  • Decreasing Intensity Button (Channel 1 & 2): Decreases the intensity for the respective channel.
  • Dual Channel Output: Allows for simultaneous treatment of two different areas or larger areas with four pads.

5. Setup and Charging

5.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the device. The TENS 1.0 (ARC) features a rechargeable battery.

  1. Connect the USB charging cable to the charging port on the device.
  2. Plug the other end of the USB cable into a compatible USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port.
  3. The battery indicator on the LCD will show charging status. A full charge typically takes approximately 2-3 hours.
  4. Disconnect the charger once fully charged.

5.2 Attaching Electrode Pads and Lead Wires

  1. Ensure the device is turned off before connecting accessories.
  2. Insert the lead wires into the output ports (Channel 1 and/or Channel 2) on the top of the TENS unit.
  3. Connect the electrode pads to the pins at the end of the lead wires. Ensure a secure connection.
  4. Peel the protective film from the adhesive side of the electrode pads. Retain the film for storage.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Electrode Pad Placement

Proper placement of electrode pads is crucial for effective treatment. Place the pads on clean, dry, intact skin over or around the painful area. Avoid placing pads directly over joints or bony prominences where they may not adhere well.

6.2 Starting Treatment

Follow these steps for pain relief:

  1. Power On: Press and hold the Power ON button until the LCD display illuminates.
  2. Select Mode: Use the Treatment Program Selection buttons (Up/Down) to cycle through the 25 available modes. Each mode offers a different pulse pattern for varied sensations.
  3. Adjust Intensity: Start with the lowest intensity level. Press the 'Increase Intensity' button for Channel 1 and/or Channel 2 slowly until you feel a comfortable, tingling sensation. Do not increase to a painful level. The device offers 50 intensity levels.
  4. Set Time: Use the Time Selection button to choose your desired treatment duration. Typical sessions range from 15 to 30 minutes.
  5. Monitor: During treatment, you can adjust the intensity as needed. If the sensation becomes uncomfortable, decrease the intensity.
  6. Power Off: After the session, press and hold the Power ON button to turn off the device.

7. Modes and Intensity Levels

The TENS 1.0 (ARC) offers 25 preset modes and 50 intensity levels, allowing for a personalized pain relief experience.

  • Modes: Experiment with different modes to find the one that provides the most comfortable and effective relief for your specific pain. Modes may vary in pulse rate, pulse width, and waveform.
  • Intensity: The intensity should be strong enough to produce a comfortable muscle contraction or tingling sensation, but not so strong as to cause pain or discomfort. Adjust gradually.

8. Maintenance

8.1 Cleaning the Device

Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water.

8.2 Cleaning and Storing Electrode Pads

  • After each use, gently wipe the adhesive side of the pads with a damp cloth to remove any skin oils or debris.
  • Allow the pads to air dry completely (adhesive side up) before reattaching them to their protective film.
  • Store the pads in a sealed bag or container to prevent them from drying out.
  • Replace pads when they lose their adhesiveness or if they become damaged.

8.3 Storage

Store the TENS 1.0 (ARC) device and accessories in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the provided storage pouch for convenience and protection.

9. Troubleshooting
