Revell BM-13-16 on W.O.T. 8 Chassis 1:35 Scale Plastic Model Kit

Model Number: 03338

Introduction

This instruction manual provides detailed guidance for assembling the Revell BM-13-16 on W.O.T. 8 Chassis 1:35 Scale Plastic Model Kit. This kit allows you to construct a replica of the versatile British military W.O.T. 8 vehicle, which served during World War II. The model can be assembled in two distinct versions: as a Katyusha multiple rocket launcher or as a cargo transporter.

The BM-13-16 on W.O.T. 8 chassis is a Soviet-modified self-propelled multiple rocket launcher system. The W.O.T. 8 itself was a modified version of the U.K. Bedford QL truck chassis. This kit features a highly detailed undercarriage and offers versatile assembly options to accurately represent either historical variant.

3. Choosing Your Version: Katyusha or Cargo

This kit offers the flexibility to build either the BM-13-16 Katyusha rocket launcher or the standard cargo transporter version. Decide which version you wish to build before proceeding.

3.1. Katyusha Rocket Launcher Version

If building the Katyusha version, attach the rocket launcher frame to the chassis. Carefully assemble the 16 individual 132mm rockets and mount them onto the launcher rails. Ensure proper alignment for a realistic appearance.

4. Finishing Touches

Attach the wheels, headlights, and any remaining small details. Apply decals according to the provided guide for authentic markings. Once assembly is complete, you may paint the model using the included water-soluble paints or other model paints of your choice.

Display and Care

Once assembled, your Revell model is a static display piece. To ensure its longevity and appearance:

  • Display the model in a stable location, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.
  • Avoid dropping or subjecting the model to impacts, as small parts can break off.
  • To clean, gently dust with a soft brush or a lint-free cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Parts not fitting: Ensure you are using the correct parts for the step. Sometimes, a small amount of plastic flash needs to be removed from the edges of the parts.
  • Adhesive issues: Apply adhesive sparingly. Too much can damage the plastic or create visible residue. Allow sufficient drying time between steps.
  • Decal application: Use water to slide decals into position. A decal setting solution can help them conform to irregular surfaces and eliminate silvering.
  • Painting: Apply paint in thin, even coats to avoid obscuring details. Allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next.
