Operating Instructions

General Measurement Procedure

  1. Power On: Press the Power Button to turn on the device.
  2. Select Mode: Press the {MODE/CAL} key to cycle through the different measurement modes (pH, EC, TDS, Salinity, S.G, ORP). The selected mode will be indicated on the LCD.
  3. Immerse Probe: Dip the probe into the solution to be tested, ensuring the sensor is fully submerged.
  4. Read Value: Wait for the reading to stabilize on the LCD.
  5. Hold Data: Press the {HOLD/TEMP} key to freeze the current reading on the display. Press again to release.
  6. Temperature Unit Switch: While in any measurement mode, press and hold the {HOLD/TEMP} key to switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) temperature units.
  7. Power Off: Press the Power Button to turn off the device, or it will automatically shut down after 5 minutes of inactivity.

pH Calibration

The C-600 supports 1-point, 2-point, or 3-point pH calibration for optimal accuracy.

  1. Prepare pH 4.00, pH 6.86, and pH 9.18 standard buffer solutions.
  2. Turn on the meter and switch to pH mode.
  3. Immerse the probe into the pH 6.86 buffer solution.
  4. Press and hold the {MODE/CAL} key until "CAL" appears on the screen. The meter will automatically recognize the buffer solution and calibrate.
  5. Once calibration for pH 6.86 is complete, rinse the probe with distilled water.
  6. For 2-point calibration, immerse the probe into pH 4.00 or pH 9.18 solution and repeat step 4.
  7. For 3-point calibration, repeat step 6 for the remaining buffer solution.
  8. After successful calibration, the meter will return to measurement mode.

EC Calibration

The C-600 supports 3-point EC calibration for accurate conductivity measurements.

  1. Prepare 1413 uS/cm, 12.88 mS/cm, and 111.8 mS/cm standard buffer solutions.
  2. Turn on the meter and switch to EC mode.
  3. Immerse the probe into the 1413 uS/cm buffer solution.
  4. Press and hold the {MODE/CAL} key until "CAL" appears. The meter will automatically recognize and calibrate.
  5. Rinse the probe with distilled water.
  6. Repeat steps 3-5 for 12.88 mS/cm and 111.8 mS/cm solutions.
  7. After successful calibration, the meter will return to measurement mode.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning the Probe: Always rinse the probe with distilled water after each use to prevent contamination and ensure accurate readings. Do not use abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
  • Storage: Store the tester with the protective cap securely in place. For long-term storage, ensure the probe is kept moist with a few drops of storage solution or pH 4.00 buffer solution in the cap. Do not store dry.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low-battery indicator appears on the display. Ensure correct polarity during installation.
  • Probe Replacement: The detachable probe design allows for easy replacement if the probe becomes damaged or its accuracy degrades over time. Refer to the product's official website or authorized dealers for replacement probes.

Troubleshooting

  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • Ensure the probe is clean and free from residue.
    • Perform a calibration for the specific parameter (pH, EC) being measured.
    • Check if the batteries are low and replace if necessary.
    • Ensure the sample temperature is within the operating range of the device.
  • Display Not Turning On:
    • Check battery installation and ensure they are correctly seated.
    • Replace batteries with new ones.
  • Reading Fluctuates:
    • Ensure the probe is fully immersed and the solution is well-mixed.
    • Allow sufficient time for the reading to stabilize.
    • Avoid air bubbles around the probe.
