OBET BTX1

OBET BTX1 Wireless Temperature Sensor User Manual

Model: BTX1

Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of the OBET BTX1 Wireless Temperature Sensor. The BTX1 sensor is designed to work in conjunction with compatible OBET indoor/outdoor thermometer main units, such as the OBET B61 model, to provide accurate remote temperature readings.

Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device to ensure proper functionality and longevity.

Product Overview

The OBET BTX1 is a compact, wireless temperature sensor designed for monitoring outdoor environmental conditions. It transmits temperature data wirelessly to a compatible main display unit, allowing for multi-location temperature monitoring.

Setup

  1. Battery Installation: Open the battery compartment on the back of the sensor. Insert the required batteries ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the battery compartment securely.
  2. Pairing with Main Unit:
    • Ensure your main OBET indoor/outdoor thermometer unit (e.g., B61) is powered on and in pairing mode (refer to your main unit's manual for specific instructions).
    • Within a few moments, the BTX1 sensor should automatically connect to the main unit via Bluetooth. A successful connection is usually indicated by a signal icon or temperature reading appearing on the main unit's display for the remote sensor channel.
  3. Sensor Placement: For optimal performance and longevity, place the sensor in a location that avoids direct sunlight and rain. Ideal locations include under a porch, eaves, or a sheltered area on a patio. Ensure the sensor is within the transmission range of the main unit (up to 150 meters / 500 feet in open areas).

Operating

Once successfully paired and placed, the OBET BTX1 sensor will continuously monitor the ambient outdoor temperature and transmit this data to your main OBET thermometer unit. The main unit will then display the temperature readings from the sensor.

  • Temperature Range: The sensor is designed to operate and measure temperatures within an outdoor range of -40℉ to 158℉ (-40℃ to 70℃).
  • Transmission: Data is transmitted wirelessly via Bluetooth. The effective transmission distance is up to 150 meters (500 feet) in open, unobstructed areas. Walls, metal structures, and other obstacles can reduce this range.
  • Multi-Sensor Support: If your main unit supports multiple remote sensors, you can add additional BTX1 sensors to monitor different locations.

Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: When the battery indicator on your main unit shows low power for the remote sensor, replace the batteries in the BTX1 sensor promptly. Use new batteries of the specified type.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the sensor's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the sensor in water.
  • Storage: If the sensor will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries and store the unit in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Environmental Protection: Always ensure the sensor is placed in a sheltered location to protect it from direct exposure to harsh weather conditions like heavy rain, snow, or intense sunlight, as specified in the placement guidelines.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No temperature reading from sensor on main unit.
  • Batteries are dead or incorrectly installed.
  • Sensor is out of range.
  • Interference from other electronic devices.
  • Sensor not properly paired.
  • Replace batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  • Move sensor closer to the main unit.
  • Relocate sensor or main unit away from potential interference sources.
  • Re-initiate the pairing process (refer to main unit manual).
Inaccurate temperature readings.
  • Sensor exposed to direct sunlight or heat source.
  • Sensor exposed to moisture.
  • Relocate sensor to a shaded, sheltered area.
  • Ensure sensor is protected from rain and humidity.
Intermittent signal loss.
  • Weak signal due to distance or obstacles.
  • Low battery.
  • Move sensor closer to the main unit or clear obstructions.
  • Replace batteries.
