3. Setup and First Use
The ADO E-bike Air 28 requires minimal assembly. Please follow these steps carefully.
3.1 Unboxing and Initial Inspection:
- Carefully remove the bicycle and all components from the packaging.
- Inspect the bicycle for any signs of damage during transit. Contact your dealer immediately if you find any issues.
- Ensure all included accessories (charger, tool kit, user manual) are present.
3.2 Assembly:
While the bike is largely pre-assembled, some minor adjustments and installations are typically required.
- Handlebar Installation/Adjustment: Loosen the stem bolts, align the handlebar, and tighten securely. Ensure the brakes and display are correctly positioned.
- Pedal Installation: Identify the left (L) and right (R) pedals. The left pedal tightens counter-clockwise, and the right pedal tightens clockwise. Apply a small amount of grease to the threads before installation.
- Seat Post Adjustment: Insert the seat post into the frame and adjust the height so your feet can comfortably touch the ground when stopped, or your leg has a slight bend at the knee when the pedal is at its lowest point. Secure with the quick-release lever.
3.3 Battery Charging:
The battery may not be fully charged upon arrival. It is recommended to fully charge it before your first ride.
- Locate the charging port on the battery (which is removable).
- Connect the charger to the battery, then plug the charger into a power outlet.
- The indicator light on the charger will show the charging status (e.g., red for charging, green for fully charged).
- Once fully charged, disconnect the charger from the outlet first, then from the battery.
3.4 Pre-Ride Checks:
- Tires: Check tire pressure. Refer to the sidewall of the tire for recommended pressure.
- Brakes: Ensure both front and rear brakes are functioning correctly and the levers are easily accessible.
- Quick Releases: Confirm all quick-release levers (wheels, seat post) are securely tightened.
- Lights: Verify the front and rear lights are working.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Powering On/Off:
To power on the e-bike, press and hold the power button on the display unit for a few seconds. To power off, repeat the process.
4.2 Using the 3.5-inch IPS Display:

Figure 4.1: The 3.5-inch IPS display provides essential ride information.
The display shows important information such as current speed, battery level, assistance level (PAS), odometer (ODO), and trip distance (TRIP). Use the control buttons near the display to navigate through different modes and settings.
- Power Button: Turns the system on/off.
- Up/Down Buttons: Adjust the pedal assist level (PAS).
- Mode Button: Cycles through display information (e.g., ODO, TRIP, AVG speed).
4.3 Pedal Assist System (PAS):
The ADO Air 28 uses a torque sensor to provide natural and responsive pedal assistance. As you pedal, the motor provides assistance based on the force you apply and the selected PAS level. Increase or decrease the PAS level using the Up/Down buttons on the control unit.
4.4 Braking:

Figure 4.2: Front hydraulic disc brake system.
The e-bike is equipped with front and rear hydraulic disc brakes. Apply both brakes simultaneously for effective and controlled stopping. Avoid sudden, hard braking, especially at high speeds or on slippery surfaces.
4.5 ADO Smart App:
Download the ADO Smart app to track mileage, record ride data, and adapt modes to different road conditions. The app also helps in finding new cycling routes. Connect your e-bike to the app via Bluetooth as instructed in the app.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your ADO E-bike Air 28.
5.1 Cleaning:
- Clean the bicycle regularly with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid using high-pressure washers directly on electrical components.
- Wipe the display screen with a soft, dry cloth.
5.2 Tires:
- Check tire pressure weekly and inflate to the recommended PSI/Bar indicated on the tire sidewall.
- Inspect tires for wear, cuts, or embedded objects.
5.3 Brakes:
- Regularly check brake pads for wear and replace them when necessary.
- Ensure brake levers have proper tension and return smoothly.
- If you notice reduced braking performance, have the hydraulic system inspected by a qualified technician.
5.4 Belt Drive:

Figure 5.1: The carbon belt drive requires minimal maintenance.
The carbon belt drive is designed to be maintenance-free for up to 30,000 km. Unlike traditional chains, it does not require lubrication. Keep it clean from excessive dirt or debris.
5.5 Battery Care:
- Charge the battery regularly, even if the bike is not in use, to maintain its health.
- Store the battery in a cool, dry place, ideally between 10°C and 20°C (50°F and 68°F).
- Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
5.6 Front Fork Adjustment:

Figure 5.2: Front fork adjustment dial.
The front fork features adjustable shock absorption. Use the dial on the top of the fork to adjust the damping to your preference or lock it for a more rigid ride on smooth surfaces.
