5. Operating Instructions

The LUCKGULU Smart Battery Charger offers various modes to optimize battery charging and maintenance.

5.1 Automatic Voltage Detection and Charging Rates

The charger automatically detects if a 12V or 24V battery is connected. You can then select between Fast Charge and Trickle Charge modes:

  • Fast Charge Mode:
    • 12V batteries: 0-20A output. Recommended for batteries with capacities from 30AH to 400AH.
    • 24V batteries: 0-10A output. Recommended for batteries with capacities from 30AH to 400AH.
  • Trickle Charge Mode:
    • 12V batteries: 0-10A output. Recommended for batteries with capacities from 6AH to 30AH.
    • 24V batteries: 0-5A output. Recommended for batteries with capacities from 6AH to 30AH.

5.2 Auto Shut-off and Maintain Mode

The charger features an intelligent auto shut-off function to prevent overcharging. Once the battery reaches full charge, the charging process will automatically stop. In Maintain Mode, the charger will then apply a pulse current to keep the battery at an optimal charge level, helping to restore and extend the life of older batteries.

5.3 Pulse Repair Mode

The advanced Pulse Repair Mode is designed to revive old, idle, or sulfated batteries (with voltage above 3V). This mode uses high-frequency and low-frequency pulse technology to break down sulfation and stratification, improving battery performance and extending its lifespan. If a battery cannot be charged in standard modes, try the Repair Mode.

Figure 6: The Smart Repair Function can revive dead batteries.

5.4 Winter/Summer Mode (Thermal Compensation)

The charger includes a thermal compensation feature that adjusts the charging parameters based on ambient temperature. This ensures optimal charging performance and prevents damage:

  • Winter Mode: For temperatures below 0°C (32°F), the charger adjusts to ensure the battery receives a full charge in cold conditions.
  • Summer Mode: For temperatures above 25°C (77°F), the charger adjusts to prevent overcharging and potential damage in hot conditions.

  • Cable and Clamp Inspection: Regularly inspect the AC power cord, battery cables, and clamps for any signs of damage, fraying, or corrosion. Replace damaged components immediately.
  • Storage: Store the charger in a cool, dry place when not in use. Ensure cables are neatly coiled and clamps are clean. Avoid storing in areas with high humidity or extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Maintenance: For optimal battery life, ensure batteries are regularly checked for fluid levels (if applicable) and kept charged, especially during periods of inactivity.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your charger, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Charger display is off after connecting to battery.Incorrect battery connection (reversed polarity), battery voltage too low (below 3V), or faulty battery.Check clamp connections for correct polarity. Ensure battery voltage is above 3V. If battery is severely discharged, it may not be recoverable.
Charger not charging after connecting to AC power.AC power not supplied, charger not switched on, or internal fault.Ensure AC power cord is securely plugged into a live outlet. Turn on the charger using the power switch. If problem persists, contact customer support.
Battery not reaching 100% charge.Battery sulfation, old battery, or incorrect mode selection.Try using the Pulse Repair Mode. Ensure the correct charging mode (Fast/Trickle) is selected for your battery capacity. Old batteries may have reduced capacity.
Charger gets warm during operation.Normal operation, especially during high current charging.Ensure adequate ventilation around the charger. The built-in cooling fan should manage heat. If it becomes excessively hot or emits smoke, disconnect immediately.

If troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, please contact LUCKGULU customer support for assistance.
