3. Setup Guide
This section guides you through the initial setup of your MINISFORUM UN1290 Mini PC, including hardware installation for barebone versions and connecting peripherals.
3.1 Installing RAM and Storage (Barebone Version)
If you have purchased the barebone version, you will need to install DDR4 SODIMM RAM and an M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD or a 2.5-inch SATA HDD.
- Prepare Tools: Ensure you have a small screwdriver suitable for opening the Mini PC casing. The device does not come with one.
- Open Casing: Carefully remove the bottom cover of the Mini PC to access the internal components. Refer to the diagram below for guidance.
- Install RAM: Locate the two DDR4 SODIMM slots. Gently insert the RAM modules into the slots at a 45-degree angle and push down until they click into place.
- Install M.2 SSD: Locate the M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD slot. Insert the SSD into the slot and secure it with the provided screw.
- Install 2.5-inch HDD (Optional): If installing a 2.5-inch SATA HDD, connect it to the SATA port and secure it within the designated bay.
- Close Casing: Carefully reattach the bottom cover, ensuring all screws are tightened.
3.2 Connecting Peripherals
- Connect Display: Connect your monitor(s) to the HDMI, DisplayPort, or USB-C outputs using appropriate cables. The UN1290 supports up to three 4K@60Hz displays simultaneously.
- Connect Keyboard and Mouse: Plug your USB keyboard and mouse into the available USB ports.
- Connect Network: For wired internet, connect an Ethernet cable to the 2.5G RJ45 port. For wireless internet, ensure your WiFi network is available.
