2. Key Features
The Piscifun Flame Spinning Reel incorporates several design elements for enhanced fishing performance:
- Lightweight Construction: Weighing only 6.1 oz, the reel features a hollow graphite body and lightweight gears for easy handling during extended fishing trips.
- Powerful Drag System: Offers up to 19.8 lbs of drag power, supported by a reinforced metal main shaft, high-quality drive gear, precisely machined brass pinion gear, and triple drag washers.
- Smooth Operation: Equipped with 9 quality ball bearings plus one roller bearing, ensuring a fluid retrieve and casting experience.
- Durable Components: Features an anti-slip aluminum spool, aluminum handle, and aluminum line guides for longevity and reduced line damage.

3. Setup Instructions
- Attaching the Handle:
Insert the handle shaft into the main body of the reel. Rotate the handle screw clockwise to secure it firmly. The handle is ambidextrous and can be attached to either side.
- Spooling Fishing Line:
Attach the reel to your fishing rod. Open the bail arm. Pass your fishing line through the rod guides and tie it to the reel spool using an arbor knot or similar secure knot. Close the bail arm. Begin winding the line onto the spool, ensuring even tension. Do not overfill the spool; leave a small gap from the edge to prevent tangles.

- Adjusting the Drag:
The drag system is located on the front of the spool. Turn the drag knob clockwise to increase drag tension and counter-clockwise to decrease it. Adjust the drag to approximately one-third of your line's breaking strength. This allows the line to pay out under heavy load, preventing line breakage.
4. Operating Instructions
- Casting:
Hold the rod with the reel beneath your hand. Use your index finger to hold the line against the rod. Open the bail arm. Bring the rod back over your shoulder, then swiftly cast forward, releasing the line with your index finger as the rod reaches the desired angle. Close the bail arm manually or by turning the handle.
- Retrieving:
Turn the handle to retrieve your line. Maintain a steady retrieve speed appropriate for your lure or bait. If a fish strikes, continue reeling while maintaining tension on the line. The drag system will engage as needed.
- Fighting a Fish:
When fighting a fish, let the drag do its job. Do not overtighten the drag, as this can snap your line. Pump the rod by lifting it, then lowering it while reeling in the slack line. Repeat this process until the fish is close enough to land.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Piscifun Flame Spinning Reel.
- External Cleaning:
After each use, especially in saltwater, rinse the reel with fresh water. Use a soft brush to remove mud, water stains, and bait residue from the surface. Pay special attention to spool edges and brake system gaps. Wipe dry with a soft cloth.
Video 5.1: This video demonstrates the proper technique for surface cleaning and function inspection of a fishing reel.
- Lubricating Bearings and Gears:
Periodically, or if the reel feels less smooth, lubricate the internal components. Unscrew the handle and remove the decorative screw at the rear. Loosen the screws on the main body side cover (usually located on the outer or inner surface of the reel body) and carefully remove the side cover. Apply a thin layer of specialized reel oil to the bearings and reel grease to the tooth surfaces of the main gear and pinion gear. Reassemble in reverse order, ensuring correct positioning of springs and washers. Do not overtighten screws.

Video 5.3: A comprehensive guide to the complete disassembly of a spinning reel for thorough cleaning and maintenance.
- Brake Pad Inspection and Cleaning:
Wipe and clean the metal friction pads with a lint-free cloth, checking for wear. If the surface is smooth or has deep grooves, replace them. Keep them dry to avoid grease contamination. For carbon pads, use a brush to clean surface stains and apply solid grease to the surface.

6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Reel feels stiff or gritty | Lack of lubrication, dirt/debris in gears or bearings. | Clean and lubricate gears and bearings (refer to Section 5.2). |
| Drag slips or is inconsistent | Drag washers are dry, worn, or contaminated with grease. | Inspect and clean/replace drag washers (refer to Section 5.3). Ensure drag knob is tightened correctly. |
| Line tangles or forms loops on spool | Spool is overfilled, line twist, or incorrect line tension during spooling. | Remove excess line. Respool line with proper tension. Check for line twist and correct if necessary. |
| Bail arm does not close properly | Debris in bail mechanism, bent bail wire, or worn spring. | Clean the bail mechanism. Inspect bail wire for damage. If spring is worn, professional repair may be needed. |
