Image 5.1: Illustration of the ZT-102A's dual mode function, showing the automatic judgment in 'Auto' mode and the high precision, multiple mode functions, and comprehensive measurement range available in 'Manual' mode, selectable via the 'SEL' button.

To switch between automatic and manual modes (where applicable), press the "SEL" button. The display will indicate "AUTO" when in automatic ranging mode.

5.2 Measuring AC/DC Voltage (V)

  1. Set the rotary switch to the V~ (AC Voltage) or V- (DC Voltage) position. If the position is combined, press SEL to select AC or DC.
  2. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack and the red test lead to the VΩHz jack.
  3. Connect the test probes in parallel across the component or circuit to be measured.
  4. Read the voltage value on the display.

WARNING: Do not attempt to measure voltage in circuits exceeding the multimeter's maximum rated input (600V AC/DC).

5.3 Measuring AC/DC Current (A, mA, µA)

  1. De-energize the circuit before connecting the multimeter.
  2. Set the rotary switch to the appropriate current range: 10A, mA~, or µA~. Press SEL to select AC or DC if combined.
  3. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack.
  4. Connect the red test lead to the 10A jack for high current, or the mAµA jack for lower currents.
  5. Open the circuit where current is to be measured and connect the multimeter in series with the circuit.
  6. Re-energize the circuit and read the current value on the display.
  7. De-energize the circuit before disconnecting the multimeter.

CAUTION: Never connect the multimeter in parallel with a voltage source when in current measurement mode, as this will blow the fuse and potentially damage the meter.

5.4 Measuring Resistance (Ω)

  1. Set the rotary switch to the Ω position.
  2. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack and the red test lead to the VΩHz jack.
  3. Ensure the circuit or component is de-energized before measuring resistance.
