Product Features

  • Efficient 3-Stage Filtration: The filter employs a multi-layer filtration system including mechanical (sponge), biological (bio balls), and chemical (ceramic rings) media to ensure comprehensive water purification. The built-in pump provides a maximum flow rate of 238 GPH (900 L/H) suitable for 55-75 gallon aquariums.

A 9W UV sterilizer is also shown, designed to remove algae and inhibit germ growth.

  • Ultra-Quiet Operation: Equipped with an internal pure copper brushless motor, the filter operates with a sound level below 50 decibels. The design minimizes internal air, contributing to its quiet performance and ensuring minimal disturbance to your home environment.

A graphic indicates a sound level of less than 50 decibels, highlighting the filter's low-noise performance and the absence of internal air for noiseless operation.

  • User-Friendly Controls: Features include a UV lamp with a timer (4/8/24-hour automatic on/off settings) and a flow adjustment valve to regulate water flow. The dual quick-release head design simplifies cleaning and maintenance. An inlet oil film removal feature helps maintain ample oxygen in the fish tank.

Setup Guide

  1. Unpack and Inspect: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Refer to the "Package Contents" section and image to ensure all parts are present and undamaged.

Image: The VEVOR Aquarium Filter unit is shown alongside all its accessories, including hoses, connectors, filter media, and other parts, as they would appear when unpacked and ready for assembly.

  2. Prepare Filter Media: Rinse all filter media (sponges, bio balls, ceramic rings) thoroughly with dechlorinated water before placing them into the filter baskets. Arrange them according to the recommended filtration stages (coarse sponge at the bottom, then bio media, then fine media).
  3. Assemble Hoses and Connectors: Attach the inlet and outlet hoses to the quick-release connectors on the filter head. Securely fasten all connections to prevent leaks. Install the inlet pipe assembly (with oil film remover) and outlet pipe assembly (e.g., rain bar) inside your aquarium using the provided suckers.
  4. Position the Filter: Place the filter unit on a stable, level surface. It is crucial that the filter is positioned below the water level of your aquarium to allow for proper siphoning and water flow.
  5. Prime the Filter: Before plugging in, ensure the filter is filled with water. Open the flow adjustment valve to allow water to flow from the aquarium into the filter by gravity. Once the filter canister is full, lift and release the air vent valve several times (2-4 times) to remove any trapped air.
  6. Connect Power: Once primed and all connections are secure, plug the filter into a grounded electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions

  • Starting the Filter: After setup and priming, the filter will begin operating automatically once plugged in. Observe the water flow to ensure it is functioning correctly.
  • Adjusting Water Flow: Use the built-in flow adjustment valve on the filter head to regulate the water flow rate according to your aquarium's needs. Turn the knob clockwise to decrease flow and counter-clockwise to increase flow.
  • UV Lamp Operation: The UV lamp features a timer function. Press the UV button to cycle through 4-hour, 8-hour, or 24-hour automatic on/off settings. The UV lamp helps control algae and inhibit germ growth, contributing to clearer water.
  • Oil Film Removal: The inlet pipe includes an oil film removal feature. Ensure it is positioned correctly at the water surface to effectively skim off surface film, promoting better gas exchange and oxygenation.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of your VEVOR Aquarium Filter.

  1. Weekly Checks:
    • Check water flow rate; a decrease may indicate clogged media.
    • Inspect hoses and connections for any signs of leaks.
    • Ensure the oil film remover is clear and functioning.
  2. Monthly Cleaning (or as needed):
    • Unplug the filter from the power outlet.
    • Close the flow adjustment valve completely.
    • Use the quick-release head design to detach the hoses from the filter unit.
    • Carefully remove the filter head and media baskets.
    • Rinse mechanical filter media (sponges) with old aquarium water to preserve beneficial bacteria. Replace if heavily soiled or degraded.
    • Rinse biological media (bio balls, ceramic rings) gently with old aquarium water. Avoid tap water as chlorine can kill beneficial bacteria.
    • Clean the impeller and impeller housing in the filter head. Remove any debris or buildup.
    • Inspect and clean the UV lamp quartz sleeve. Replace the UV bulb annually or as recommended by the manufacturer.
    • Reassemble the filter, ensuring all seals and O-rings are properly seated. Reconnect hoses and prime the filter as described in the "Setup Guide" before plugging it back in.
