2. Important Safety Instructions

  • Read all instructions carefully before operating the device.
  • Do not expose the unit to rain, moisture, or direct sunlight.
  • Ensure proper ventilation; do not block any ventilation openings.
  • Use only the specified power adapter (100-240V ~ 50/60Hz) or 4 x 1.5V AA/UM3/R6/LR6 batteries (not supplied).

  • Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.

4.1 Front Panel

  • Speaker Grille: Audio output.
  • 2.8" TFT LCD Color Display: Shows station information, time, menu options, and slideshows. Display intensity is adjustable.

4.2 Top Panel Controls

5. Setup

5.1 Powering the Radio

The Muse M-117-DB can be powered by either the included AC adapter or batteries.

Using the AC Adapter:

  1. Insert the small plug of the external AC power adapter into the DC IN jack on the radio.
  2. Plug the other end of the adapter into a standard wall outlet (100-240V ~ 50/60Hz).

Using Batteries:

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the rear of the unit.
  2. Insert 4 x 1.5V AA/UM3/R6/LR6 batteries (not supplied), ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Note: When both AC power and batteries are connected, the unit will primarily use AC power.

5.2 Antenna Adjustment

For optimal FM and DAB/DAB+ reception, fully extend the telescopic antenna. Adjust its position for the best signal quality.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic Operation

  1. Power On/Off: Press the Power button to turn the radio on or off.
  2. Volume Adjustment: Use the Volume Up/Down buttons to increase or decrease the sound level.
  3. Mode Selection: Press the Mode button to switch between DAB/DAB+ and FM radio modes.

6.2 DAB/DAB+ Radio Operation

  1. Switch to DAB mode using the Mode button.
  2. The radio will automatically scan for available DAB/DAB+ stations upon first use or if no stations are found.
  3. To perform a manual scan, press the Menu button, navigate to "Scan" or "Full Scan" using the Tune/Select knob, and press to confirm.
  4. Rotate the Tune/Select knob to browse through the list of available stations. Press the knob to select a station.
  5. Storing Presets:
    1. Tune to the desired DAB station.
    2. Press and hold one of the Preset buttons (e.g., P1-P10) until the display shows "Preset Saved".
    3. To recall a preset, simply press the corresponding Preset button briefly.
  6. Slideshow Function: If available from the broadcast, the display will show images or text related to the current program.

6.3 FM Radio Operation

  1. Switch to FM mode using the Mode button.
  2. Automatic Tuning: Press and hold the Tune/Select knob for a few seconds to automatically scan for the next available station.
  3. Manual Tuning: Rotate the Tune/Select knob to manually adjust the frequency.
  4. Storing Presets:
    1. Tune to the desired FM station.
    2. Press and hold one of the Preset buttons (e.g., P1-P10) until the display shows "Preset Saved".
    3. To recall a preset, simply press the corresponding Preset button briefly.

6.4 Alarm Functions

The radio features alarm, snooze, and sleep functions.

  1. Setting an Alarm:
    1. Press the Alarm button.
    2. Use the Tune/Select knob to set the alarm time, source (DAB/FM/Buzzer), and volume. Press the knob to confirm each setting.
    3. Activate the alarm by selecting "On".
  2. Snooze Function: When the alarm sounds, press any button (except Power) to activate snooze. The alarm will sound again after a short interval.
  3. Sleep Function: Press the Menu button, navigate to "Sleep", and select a sleep timer duration (e.g., 15, 30, 60 minutes). The radio will automatically turn off after the set time.

6.5 Auxiliary Input

Connect an external audio device (e.g., MP3 player, smartphone) to the 3.5mm Auxiliary Input jack using a 3.5mm audio cable (not supplied). Switch the radio to AUX mode (if available, otherwise it might automatically detect or require menu selection) to play audio from the connected device.

6.6 Headphone Use

Plug standard 3.5mm headphones into the headphone jack for private listening. The internal speaker will be muted automatically.

6.7 Display Settings

To adjust the display intensity (brightness), press the Menu button, navigate to "Display" or "Backlight", and use the Tune/Select knob to choose your preferred brightness level.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

  • Always unplug the radio from the power source before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior surfaces.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents as they may damage the finish.

7.2 Storage

If you plan to store the radio for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage. Store the unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
