1. Product Overview

The EYEKSTON U8 WiFi Extender is designed to expand your existing wireless network coverage, eliminate Wi-Fi dead spots, and provide stable internet access throughout your home or office. It supports multiple operating modes to suit various networking needs.

3. Device Components

Familiarize yourself with the various components and indicators of your WiFi Extender:

• LAN/WAN Indicator: Indicates Ethernet port activity.

4. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your EYEKSTON U8 WiFi Extender:

4.1 Initial Power On

1. Plug the extender into an electrical outlet next to your main router.
2. Wait until the wireless LED indicator blinks, indicating it's ready for setup.

4.2 Setup via WPS Button (Recommended for quick setup)

1. Press the WPS button on your EYEKSTON U8 WiFi Extender.
2. Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your main router.
3. Wait for about 2 minutes. The signal light on the extender should turn solid green or orange, indicating a successful connection and network expansion.

4.3 Manual Setup via Web Browser

If WPS setup is not preferred or fails, use the web browser method:

1. Connect your phone or computer to the extender's default Wi-Fi network (SSID usually printed on the extender, e.g., "wireless_xxxxxx"). No password is required initially.
2. Open a web browser and enter 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. Log in with the default username and password (usually "admin" for both).
3. Select "Repeater Mode" from the setup options.
4. The extender will scan for available Wi-Fi networks. Select your main router's 2.4GHz or 5GHz SSID from the list.
5. Enter the password for your main router's Wi-Fi network. You can choose to modify the extender's SSID or keep the default (which usually appends "-EXT" to your main network's name).
6. Confirm the settings and click "Finish". The extender will restart.
7. Once restarted, connect your devices to the new extended network.

5. Operating Modes

The EYEKSTON U8 WiFi Extender supports three operating modes:

• Repeater Mode: Extends the range of your existing wireless network. This is the most common use case.
• AP (Access Point) Mode: Converts a wired internet connection into a wireless hotspot. Ideal for areas with Ethernet access but no Wi-Fi.
• Router Mode: Functions as a basic router, creating a new private network from a modem connection.

6. Optimizing Placement

For optimal WiFi coverage and performance, consider the following when placing your extender:

• Place the extender about halfway between your main router and the Wi-Fi dead zone.
• Ensure the chosen location is within the range of your host network. The signal indicator lights can help determine optimal placement:
  • Green Light: Strong signal.
  • Orange Light: Low signal, consider moving closer to the router.
  • No Light: No signal, move closer to the router.
• Avoid placing the extender near large metal objects, concrete walls, or appliances that emit electromagnetic interference (e.g., microwaves, cordless phones).

1. Extender not powering on: Ensure it is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet.
2. Cannot connect to extender's network during setup:
   • Verify you are selecting the correct default SSID (e.g., "wireless_xxxxxx").
   • Try restarting the extender by unplugging and re-plugging it.
   • Ensure your device's Wi-Fi is enabled.
3. No internet access after setup:
   • Check if your main router has internet access.
   • Ensure you entered the correct password for your main router's Wi-Fi during setup.
   • Relocate the extender closer to your main router if the signal indicator shows low or no signal.
   • Try resetting the extender to factory settings (using the reset button) and performing the setup again.
4. Frequent disconnections or slow speeds:
   • Adjust the extender's antennas for better signal reception.
   • Move the extender to an optimal location (refer to Section 6).
   • Reduce interference by moving the extender away from other electronic devices.
   • Ensure your main router's firmware is up to date.
5. WPS setup fails: If the WPS method does not work, proceed with the manual setup via web browser (Section 4.3).
