5. Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your EYEKSTON U8 WiFi Extender:

5.1 Initial Placement and Power On

  1. Plug the extender into an electrical outlet next to your main router.
  2. Wait until the wireless LED indicator on the extender blinks, indicating it is ready for setup.

5.2 Configuration via Mobile Device (Recommended)

This method uses a web browser on your smartphone or computer to configure the extender.

  1. Find the SSID (Network Name) and Wireless Password printed on the label at the bottom of the extender.
  2. Connect your smartphone or computer to the extender's network. The network name is typically "wireless_xxxxxx" or "Extender-b44ef6" (as seen in the video).
  3. Once connected, open a web browser and enter "192.168.1.1" in the address bar. If not automatically redirected, this will take you to the extender's setup page.
  4. Select "Repeater Mode" from the available options.
  5. The extender will scan for available Wi-Fi networks. Select the network of your main router (the one you wish to extend).
  6. Enter the password for your main router's Wi-Fi network.
  7. Review the extended network information (new SSID, password) and click "Finish". Note down the new extended SSID and password for future use.
  8. Wait for about 30 seconds for the extender to apply settings and restart.

5.3 Configuration via WPS Button (Quick Setup)

This method is quicker if your main router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup).

  1. Plug the extender into an electrical outlet next to your main router.
  2. Press the WPS button on the extender.
  3. Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your main router.
  4. Wait for the extender's signal indicator light to turn solid green or orange, indicating a successful connection.

5.4 Relocating the Extender

After successful setup, you can relocate the extender to an optimal position for better coverage.

  • Plug the extender into an electrical outlet about halfway between your router and the Wi-Fi dead zone.
  • The chosen location must be within the range of your host network.
  • Wait for about 2 minutes until the signal light is on (green or orange). If it is not on or is red, please move the extender closer to the router.

6. Operating Modes

The EYEKSTON U8 WiFi Extender supports three operating modes:

  • Repeater Mode: Extends the range of your existing Wi-Fi network. This is the most common use case.
  • AP (Access Point) Mode: Converts a wired internet connection into a wireless network. Ideal for areas with Ethernet access but no Wi-Fi.
  • Router Mode: Functions as a basic router, creating a new private network from a modem connection.

7. Maintenance

  • Keep the device clean and free from dust.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the extender to prevent overheating.
  • Avoid placing the extender near large metal objects, concrete walls, or other electronic devices that may cause interference.
  • Periodically check the manufacturer's website for firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.

8. Troubleshooting
