3. Setup

  1. Prepare the Tiles: Place all 28 domino tiles face down on a flat surface and shuffle them thoroughly. This face-down pile is known as the 'boneyard'.
  2. Draw Tiles: Each player draws a set number of tiles from the boneyard. The number of tiles drawn depends on the number of players:
    • 2 players: 7 tiles each
    • 3-4 players: 5 tiles each
Keep your drawn tiles hidden from other players.
  3. Determine First Player: The player with the highest double domino (e.g., double-six) starts the game by placing it in the center of the playing area. If no player has a double, players continue to draw one tile at a time from the boneyard until a double is drawn.

4. How to Play (Operating Instructions)

The objective of the game is to be the first player to play all their dominoes or, if no one can play, to have the lowest total score from remaining tiles. Players take turns extending the chain of dominoes.

  1. Playing a Tile: On your turn, play one of your dominoes by matching an end of one of your tiles to an open end of a domino already on the table. For example, if a domino with a '5' on one end is on the table, you must play a domino that also has a '5' on one of its ends.
  2. Drawing from the Boneyard: If you cannot make a move with your current tiles, you must draw one tile from the boneyard. If the drawn tile can be played, you must play it immediately. If not, your turn ends, and you keep the drawn tile.
  3. Doubles: When a double domino is played, it is typically placed perpendicular to the chain. The player who plays a double usually gets another turn.
  4. Winning a Round: The round ends when a player plays their last domino or when no player can make a move.
  5. Scoring: At the end of each round, players count the pips (dots) on their remaining dominoes. The player who went out (played all their dominoes) scores zero. Other players add up their pips, and this total is recorded on the score pad. The game continues for a predetermined number of rounds or until a player reaches a set score (e.g., 100 or 200 points). The player with the lowest total score at the end wins the game.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: To clean the domino tiles and case, wipe them gently with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these may damage the plastic.
  • Storage: Always store the dominoes and pencil inside the provided travel case when not in use. This protects the components from loss and damage. Keep the score pad and ruler booklet in a dry place.
  • Pencil Care: The eternal pencil does not require sharpening. If the tip appears dull, gently rub it on a piece of paper to refresh the writing surface.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Missing Pieces: In the event of missing domino tiles or other components, please contact Kikkerland customer support for assistance.
  • Damaged Components: If any part of your game set arrives damaged or becomes damaged during normal use, please reach out to customer support.
