4. Maintenance

Regular cleaning and proper maintenance are crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of your airbrush.

4.1 Color Swap Cleaning

When changing colors, perform a quick clean:

  1. Once you're done with the current color, add airbrush cleaner to the cup.
  2. Do a reverse flow by blocking the airflow with your finger.
  3. Dispose of the paint/cleaner.
  4. Clean the cup with tissue and add new color.

4.2 Deep Cleaning

A deep clean is essential after every major project to prevent paint from drying and hardening, which can damage the airbrush.

  1. Add airbrush cleaner to the cup and perform a reverse flow.
  2. Dispose/spray out the excess cleaner.
  3. Clean the cup thoroughly with tissue.
  4. Remove the handle from the back of the airbrush.
  5. Loosen the needle chucking nut and remove the needle from the back.
  6. Remove the air cap, nozzle cap, and nozzle.
  7. Clean the needle with a tissue dipped in airbrush cleaner.
  8. Clean the nozzle cap and nozzle the same way.
  9. Clean the air cap with a cotton bud and reassemble all parts.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, consider the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Paint Flow: Check for clogs in the nozzle or air cap. Ensure the needle is fully retracted and the paint is properly thinned. Verify air pressure.
  • Splattering: Paint may be too thick, or air pressure too low. Clean the nozzle and needle.
  • Uneven Spray Pattern: Check for bent needle or damaged nozzle. Ensure all components are tightened correctly.
  • Air Leaks: Inspect O-rings for damage or improper seating. Tighten all connections.
