Setup
Initial Charge
Your Timex Expedition Field Solar watch is powered by light. For optimal performance, ensure the watch is fully charged before first use. Place the watch in direct sunlight or under a strong artificial light source for several hours. A full charge can last up to 4 months in darkness.
Setting the Time
- Pull the crown (the knob on the side of the watch) out to position 2.
- Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to set the hour and minute hands to the correct time.
- Push the crown back in to position 1 to start the watch.

Operating Your Watch
Water Resistance
This watch is water resistant to 50 meters (164 feet). This means it is suitable for short periods of recreational swimming, but not for diving or snorkeling. Avoid operating the crown or pushers when the watch is wet.
| Activity | Suitability |
|---|---|
| Accidental splashes, rain | Suitable |
| Showering, bathing | Not recommended |
| Recreational swimming (short periods) | Suitable |
| Diving, snorkeling, water sports | Not suitable |
Luminous Hands and Markers
The watch features luminous hands and dial markers for improved readability in low-light conditions. These elements absorb light and glow in the dark. The intensity and duration of the glow depend on the exposure to light.
Maintenance
Cleaning Your Watch
To clean your watch, wipe it gently with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners or abrasive materials, as these can damage the watch case, crystal, or strap.
Strap Care
The light brown fabric strap is made from recycled plastic. To maintain its appearance and durability, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and harsh chemicals. If the strap becomes wet, allow it to air dry completely before wearing.

Storage
When not in use, store your watch in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and strong magnetic fields. To ensure the solar cell remains charged, periodically expose the watch to light, even when stored.
Troubleshooting
Watch Not Running or Running Intermittently
- Insufficient Charge: The most common reason for a solar watch not running is insufficient light exposure. Place the watch in direct sunlight for several hours to fully charge it.
- Crown Position: Ensure the crown is fully pushed in to position 1. If it is pulled out, the watch will not run.
Time Incorrect
- Reset Time: Follow the "Setting the Time" instructions in the Setup section to reset the time.
Water Inside Watch
- If moisture appears inside the watch, immediately take it to an authorized service center. Do not attempt to open the watch yourself.
