3. Safety Information

  • Always shut off the water supply before performing any maintenance or filter replacement.
  • Release system pressure by opening the RO faucet before opening filter housings.
  • Use appropriate tools (e.g., housing wrench) to avoid damage to the system or injury.
  • Do not overtighten filter housings, as this can cause leaks and damage.
  • Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks after reassembly.
  • Keep the area dry during installation and maintenance to prevent electrical hazards if your system includes electrical components.

4. Package Contents

Your Water Filter Tec 3-Stage RO Water Filter Replacement kit includes:

  • 1 x 10-inch 5 Micron PP Sediment Filter (Stage 1)

5. Setup & Installation

Follow these steps to replace your RO water filters:

5.1. Preparation

  1. Shut off the cold water supply to your RO system.
  2. Shut off the tank valve on your RO storage tank.
  3. Open the RO faucet to release any pressure in the system. Let the water drain completely.
  4. Place a towel or shallow pan under the filter housings to catch any residual water.

5.2. Filter Replacement

  1. Using the housing wrench, unscrew the three pre-filter housings (Stage 1, 2, and 3) by turning them counter-clockwise.
  2. Remove the old filters and dispose of them properly.
  3. Wash the inside of the filter housings with mild soap and water, then rinse thoroughly.
  4. Ensure the O-rings are properly seated in the housing caps. Lubricate with food-grade silicone grease if necessary.
  5. Unwrap the new filters. Insert the new 5 Micron PP Sediment Filter into the first housing (Stage 1). Insert the two 0.5 Micron CTO Carbon Block Filters into the second and third housings (Stage 2 & 3).
  6. Screw the filter housings back onto the system by hand, turning clockwise. Use the housing wrench for a final snug turn, but do not overtighten. Leave a 1/16-inch gap between the housing and the cap to avoid over-compression.

5.3. System Flushing

  1. Slowly turn on the cold water supply to your RO system.
  2. Check for any leaks around the filter housings and connections. Tighten gently if necessary.
  3. With the RO faucet still open, allow the system to flush for at least 10-15 minutes to clear any carbon dust and trapped air. The water may appear cloudy initially; this is normal.
  4. Close the RO faucet and slowly open the tank valve. Allow the storage tank to fill completely (this may take 2-4 hours).
  5. Once the tank is full, open the RO faucet and drain the tank completely. Repeat this fill-and-drain cycle 2-3 times to ensure all air is purged and the filters are properly conditioned.

6. Operating Instructions

After successful installation and flushing, your Water Filter Tec RO system is ready for normal operation. Simply open your RO faucet to dispense purified water. The system will automatically refill the storage tank as water is used.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and water quality.

7.1. Filter Replacement Schedule

The replacement frequency depends on your water quality and usage. General guidelines are:

  • Stage 1-3 (Pre-filters: PP & CTO): Every 4-6 months or 2,000 gallons.

Refer to your system's user manual for model-specific schedules if you have a 5-stage or 6-stage system with additional filters.

7.2. Cleaning

Clean filter housings during each filter replacement to prevent sediment and biofilm buildup.

8. Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to common issues:

  • No Water Flow: Check if the water supply valve and tank valve are fully open. Ensure all tubing connections are secure and not kinked. Verify filter orientation if they have flow arrows.
  • Leaks: Ensure filter housings are tightened correctly (snug, but not overtightened). Check O-rings for proper seating and damage. Retighten any loose tubing connections.
  • Poor Water Taste/Odor: This indicates filters may be expired or improperly installed. Replace filters if they are past their service life. Ensure proper flushing after replacement.
