Setup

Before starting the engine for the first time, ensure all necessary preparations are completed.

  1. Mounting: Securely mount the engine to a stable, level surface using appropriate hardware. Ensure proper alignment with the driven equipment.
  2. Add Engine Oil:
    • Remove the oil filler cap/dipstick.
    • Add recommended engine oil (e.g., SAE 10W-30) to the crankcase until it reaches the upper limit mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill.
    • The engine's oil alarm will prevent starting if oil is insufficient.
  3. Add Fuel:
    • Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher.
    • Open the fuel tank cap and carefully pour fuel into the tank. Do not fill above the filter screen.
    • Ensure the fuel cap is securely tightened after filling.

Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to start and operate your engine.

Starting the Engine (Manual Pull Start)

  1. Fuel Valve: Open the fuel valve.
  2. Choke: If the engine is cold, move the choke lever to the "CHOKE" position. If warm, leave it in "RUN".
  3. Engine Switch: Turn the engine switch to the "ON" position.
  4. Pull Starter: Grasp the starter grip and pull slowly until resistance is felt, then pull briskly. Repeat if necessary.
  5. Choke Adjustment: Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke lever to the "RUN" position as the engine warms up.

Starting the Engine (Electric Start)

  1. Fuel Valve: Open the fuel valve.
  2. Choke: If the engine is cold, move the choke lever to the "CHOKE" position. If warm, leave it in "RUN".
  3. Engine Switch: Turn the engine switch to the "ON" position.
  4. Start Key/Button: Turn the key or press the start button. Release once the engine starts. Do not crank for more than 5 seconds at a time.
  5. Choke Adjustment: Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke lever to the "RUN" position as the engine warms up.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of your engine.

  • Engine Oil Check: Check oil level before each use. Change oil after the first 20 hours of operation, then every 50-100 hours or annually.
  • Air Filter Cleaning/Replacement: Inspect the air filter regularly. Clean or replace it more frequently in dusty conditions. A dirty air filter can reduce engine performance and increase fuel consumption.
  • Spark Plug Inspection: Inspect the spark plug annually. Clean or replace if necessary. Ensure proper gap.
  • Fuel Filter: Inspect and clean the fuel filter periodically.
  • General Cleaning: Keep the engine clean, especially cooling fins, to prevent overheating.
