2. Important Safety Information

4. Setup and First Use

Unpacking:

1. Carefully remove all packaging materials and components from the box.
2. Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface.

Initial Cleaning:

Before first use, it is recommended to clean all removable parts and run a few cycles with water only.

1. Wash the glass carafe, reusable filters, and filter holders in warm, soapy water or place them in the dishwasher (top rack recommended). Rinse thoroughly.
2. Fill the water reservoir to the MAX line with fresh, cold water.
3. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
4. Select the "carafe" option and the "12 cup" size. Allow the full cycle to complete.
5. Repeat this process 2-3 times to ensure the system is clean.
6. Discard the water after each cycle.

5. Operating Instructions

The BELLA VersaBrew offers two primary brewing modes: Single Serve and Carafe.

5.1. Brewing a Single Serve Cup (Pods or Grounds)

1. Ensure the water reservoir is filled with fresh, cold water to your desired level (at least 8oz for single serve). Avoid overfilling past the MAX line to prevent spills from the overflow hole.
2. Lift the lid of the single-serve brewing chamber.
3. For Coffee Pods: Insert a coffee pod into the pod adapter.
4. For Ground Coffee: Place the reusable ground coffee filter into the single-serve chamber. Add your desired amount of ground coffee (typically 1-2 tablespoons per 8oz).
5. Close the lid firmly until it clicks.
6. Adjust the drip tray to the appropriate height for your mug (up to 7 inches tall).
7. Place your mug on the drip tray.
8. On the control panel, select the "single" option.
9. Choose your desired brew size: 8oz, 10oz, or 12oz. The machine will automatically begin brewing approximately 5 seconds after selection.
10. Once brewing is complete, carefully remove your mug.

5.2. Brewing a Full Carafe

1. Ensure the water reservoir is filled with fresh, cold water to your desired level (up to 60oz for 12 cups).
2. Place the reusable carafe filter into the filter holder. Add your desired amount of ground coffee (approximately 1 tablespoon per cup for medium strength).
3. Place the filter holder with coffee into the carafe brewing chamber.
4. Place the glass carafe with its lid on the warming plate.
5. On the control panel, select the "carafe" option.
6. Choose your desired brew size: 6 cup, 10 cup, or 12 cup. The machine will automatically begin brewing approximately 5 seconds after selection.
7. The warming plate will keep the coffee hot for up to 2 hours after brewing.

5.3. Iced Coffee Function

To brew iced coffee, follow the single-serve brewing steps, but instead of selecting a brew size, press and hold the "single | over ice" button. This function is designed to brew a concentrated coffee over ice, preventing dilution.

Important Operating Notes:

• The coffee maker does not have a dedicated "On/Off" button. It operates by selecting the desired brew size/function and will automatically begin brewing after a short delay (approx. 5 seconds).
• For carafe brewing, the warming plate will remain on for up to 2 hours after brewing is complete, then automatically shut off. To turn off the warming plate sooner, you must unplug the appliance.
• If the brewing process seems incomplete or inconsistent, ensure the water reservoir is adequately filled and the filter/pod is correctly seated.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.

Daily Cleaning:

1. Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning and allow it to cool completely.
2. Remove the glass carafe, reusable filters, and filter holders. These parts are dishwasher-safe (top rack) or can be washed by hand with warm, soapy water.
3. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
4. Wipe the warming plate with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water.

Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal):

Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance. The "clean" indicator light will illuminate when descaling is recommended.

1. Mix 1 part white vinegar with 2 parts cold water in the water reservoir.
2. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
3. Select the "carafe" option and the "12 cup" size. Allow the full cycle to complete.
4. After the cycle, let the solution sit in the carafe for 15-20 minutes.
5. Discard the solution and rinse the carafe thoroughly.
6. Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water and run 2-3 full carafe cycles to rinse out any remaining vinegar smell or taste.
7. The "clean" indicator light should turn off after descaling. If it remains on, repeat the descaling process.
