4.2 Spooling Fishing Line
Properly spooling line is crucial for optimal performance. Follow these steps:
- Open the bail arm.
- Tie the fishing line to the spool using an arbor knot or similar secure knot.
- Close the bail arm.
- Hold the line taut and begin reeling slowly, ensuring the line lays evenly on the spool.
- Fill the spool to about 1/8 inch from the rim to prevent tangles and maximize casting distance.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Casting
- Hold the rod and reel comfortably.
- Open the bail arm with your non-dominant hand.
- Use your index finger to hold the line against the rod.
- Swing the rod forward, releasing your finger from the line at the desired point to cast.
- As the lure hits the water, close the bail arm manually or by turning the handle.
5.2 Retrieving
Turn the handle clockwise (for right-hand retrieve) or counter-clockwise (for left-hand retrieve) to retrieve the line. Maintain a steady retrieve speed appropriate for your lure and target fish.
5.3 Adjusting Drag
The drag knob is located on the top of the spool. Turn it clockwise to increase drag tension and counter-clockwise to decrease it. Set the drag to approximately one-third of your line's breaking strength. This allows line to be pulled out when a fish pulls hard, preventing line breakage.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance will extend the life and performance of your MTQCRHGP fishing reel.
- Rinse After Use: After each use, especially in saltwater, lightly rinse the reel with fresh water to remove salt and debris. Do not submerge the reel.
- Dry Thoroughly: Wipe the reel dry with a soft cloth. Allow it to air dry completely before storage.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of reel oil to moving parts such as the handle shaft, bail arm pivot, and line roller. Use reel grease for gears if accessible.
- Inspect Line: Regularly check your fishing line for fraying or damage and replace it as needed.
- Storage: Store the reel in a cool, dry place, ideally in a reel cover or bag to protect it from dust and impacts.
