COKYIS Adjustable DC Motor Speed Controller User Manual

Model: COKYIS

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of your COKYIS Adjustable DC Motor Speed Controller. This device is designed to regulate the speed of universal DC brush motors and control the brightness of DC lights using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) technology. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure safe and efficient operation.

2. Product Overview

The COKYIS DC Motor Speed Controller features a compact design with a wide voltage and current range. It utilizes a PWM modulation system for precise speed adjustment and includes integrated radiators for effective heat dissipation from the MOS tubes. An external potentiometer is provided for convenient speed control. The unit is housed in a protective case for enhanced durability and operates with minimal noise.

4. Setup

  1. Power Source Connection: Connect your DC power supply (10-50V DC) to the input terminals of the controller. Ensure correct polarity: positive to '+' and negative to '-'.
  2. Motor Connection: Connect your DC brush motor to the output terminals of the controller. Ensure correct polarity if directional control is desired, otherwise, the motor will simply spin in the opposite direction if polarity is reversed.
  3. Potentiometer Connection: The provided potentiometer with extension wires should be connected to the designated port on the controller board. This potentiometer is used for speed adjustment.
  4. Initial Check: Before applying full power, double-check all connections to ensure they are secure and correctly wired.

5. Operating Instructions

The COKYIS DC Motor Speed Controller operates based on the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) principle. By changing the duty cycle (the ratio of ON time to the total period) of the square wave output, the average current supplied to the load (motor or light) is adjusted. This allows for continuous variation of motor speed or light brightness from 0% to 100%.

  1. Power On: Once all connections are secure, apply power to the controller.
  2. Adjusting Speed/Brightness: Rotate the knob on the external potentiometer to adjust the output. Turning the knob clockwise will increase the motor speed or light brightness, while turning it counter-clockwise will decrease it.
  3. Monitoring: Observe the motor's speed or light's brightness to achieve the desired operational level.

6. Main Applications

  • Universal DC brush motor speed control.
  • Control of motor speed in automotive applications (e.g., car cooling fan motors, car fan motors, car windshield wiper motors, air conditioning fan motors).
  • Adjustment of conveyor belt speed in product lines.
  • Speed regulation for tube exhaust fans, treadmills, and electric fans.
  • Temperature adjustment for DC heaters.
  • Brightness control for common DC bulbs.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Keep the controller free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Avoid using liquids or solvents.
  • Connections: Periodically check all wire connections to ensure they remain tight and secure. Loose connections can lead to intermittent operation or damage.
  • Environment: Operate the controller within the specified working temperature range (-20°C to 40°C) and avoid environments with excessive moisture or corrosive gases.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Power/No Operation:
    • Verify that the DC power supply is connected correctly and providing the specified voltage (10-50V DC).
    • Check all wiring for secure connections and correct polarity.
  • Motor Not Responding to Potentiometer:
    • Ensure the potentiometer is correctly plugged into the controller board.
    • Inspect the potentiometer wires for any damage.
  • Overheating:
    • Ensure adequate ventilation around the controller.
    • Verify that the motor's power consumption does not exceed the controller's maximum rated power for the given voltage (e.g., 720W for 12V, 3000W for 50V).

9. Package Contents

  • 1 x COKYIS Adjustable 10-50V 60A DC Motor Speed Control PWM HHO RC Controller
  • 1 x Extension Control Switch (Potentiometer with wires)
