1. Introduction

4. Setup

4.1. Battery Installation

The MS7221 calibrator requires 2 LR44 batteries (included). To install or replace batteries:

1. Locate the battery compartment on the rear of the device.
2. Open the battery cover.
3. Insert the batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
4. Close the battery cover securely.

4.2. Connecting Test Leads

Connect the provided test leads to the appropriate input/output jacks on the calibrator's front panel based on the measurement or sourcing function you intend to perform. Refer to Figure 1 for jack identification.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Power On/Off

Press the POWER button (refer to Figure 1) to turn the calibrator ON or OFF.

5.2. Mode Selection (Input/Output)

Press the INPUT/OUTPUT button to switch between input (measurement) and output (sourcing) modes. The display will indicate the active mode.

5.3. Function Selection (Voltage/Current)

Use the Voltage MV/V Switching Button or Switch Button (refer to Figure 1) to select between voltage (V/mV) and current (mA/%) functions within the chosen mode.

5.4. Adjusting Output Values

In output (sourcing) mode, use the Add Buttons and Reduce Buttons (refer to Figure 1) to adjust the desired voltage or current output value. The calibrator supports step adjustments for precise control.

5.5. 24V Loop Supply

The MS7221 provides a 24V loop supply for powering transmitters while simultaneously measuring their current output. Connect the transmitter to the +LOOP and COM terminals for this function.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning

Wipe the calibrator with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the device is powered off and disconnected from all circuits before cleaning.

6.2. Battery Replacement

Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Refer to Section 4.1 for battery installation instructions.

6.3. Storage

Store the calibrator in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your MS7221 calibrator, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

• Device does not power on: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
• Incorrect readings/output: Verify test lead connections. Ensure the correct mode (input/output) and function (voltage/current) are selected. Check the range settings.
• Display is blank or erratic: Low battery could be the cause. Replace batteries. If the problem persists, contact support.
• No output in source mode: Confirm the device is in output mode and the output value is set above zero. Check connections to the device under test.
