1. Safety Instructions

3. Setup

Before first use, ensure all components are present and in good condition. The battery is NOT included and must be purchased separately.

3.1 Battery Installation

  1. Ensure the pruning shears are powered off and the safety lock is engaged.
  2. Align the Makita LXT 18V Li-ion battery with the battery slot at the base of the pruner handle.
  3. Slide the battery into the slot until it clicks securely into place.

3.2 Initial Inspection

  • Check the blades for any visible damage or debris.
  • Ensure all screws and fasteners are tight.

4. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for safe and effective operation of your electric pruning shears.

4.1 Powering On/Off

  1. With the battery installed, press the power switch located on the side of the tool.
  2. To activate the blades, quickly pull the trigger switch twice until you hear two beeps. The LCD display will show the battery level and cutting count.
  3. To turn off the tool, long press the trigger switch until the blades close and the tool powers down.

4.2 Cutting Technique

  • Position the branch to be cut between the open blades. Ensure the branch diameter does not exceed 2.4 inches (60mm).
  • Press the trigger switch firmly to close the blades and make the cut.
  • Release the trigger to allow the blades to open for the next cut.
  • The LCD display will update the cutting count with each successful cut.

5. Maintenance

  • Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe off any sap, debris, or moisture from the blades.

  • If the blades become dull, use the included sandpaper stone to carefully sharpen the cutting edge.
