2. Safety Instructions
- Always unplug the sewing machine from the power outlet immediately after use, before cleaning, or when performing any maintenance.

- Keep fingers away from all moving parts, especially around the needle area, while the machine is operating.

4. Product Overview and Components
Familiarize yourself with the main parts of your sewing machine:
- Stitch Selector Dial: Used to choose from 12 different stitch patterns.

5. Setup
5.1 Power Connection
Connect the power adapter to the DC input jack on the back of the machine, then plug the adapter into a standard electrical outlet. If using the foot pedal, plug it into the designated jack.
5.2 Bobbin Winding
- Place an empty bobbin onto the bobbin winder spindle.
- Place a spool of thread on the spool pin.
- Guide the thread through the bobbin winding tension disc.
- Wrap the thread around the bobbin a few times, then push the bobbin winder spindle to the right.
- Turn on the machine (low speed recommended) to wind the bobbin. Stop when the bobbin is full.
- Cut the thread and push the spindle back to the left.
5.3 Upper Threading
- Raise the needle to its highest position using the handwheel.
- Raise the presser foot lifter.
- Place a spool of thread on the spool pin.
- Guide the thread through the upper thread guide.
- Pass the thread through the tension discs.
- Thread the take-up lever from right to left.
- Guide the thread down through the needle bar thread guide.
- Finally, thread the needle from front to back. Pull about 15 cm of thread through the needle eye.
5.4 Lower Threading (Bobbin Insertion)
- Open the bobbin cover plate.
- Insert the wound bobbin into the bobbin case, ensuring the thread unwinds counter-clockwise.
- Guide the bobbin thread through the tension spring slot.
- Hold the upper thread lightly with one hand. Turn the handwheel towards you to lower the needle, catching the bobbin thread.
- Pull the upper thread gently, and the bobbin thread will loop up through the needle plate opening.
- Pull both threads (upper and bobbin) under the presser foot and towards the back of the machine.
- Close the bobbin cover plate.

5.5 Presser Foot Attachment
The machine comes with various presser feet for different sewing tasks. To change the presser foot:
- Raise the needle and the presser foot lifter.
- Press the black button on the back of the presser foot holder to release the current foot.
- Align the new presser foot with the holder's pin and lower the presser foot lifter until it snaps into place.

6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Starting to Sew
- Place your fabric under the presser foot.
- Lower the presser foot.
- Select your desired stitch pattern using the stitch selector dial.
- Choose your preferred speed (Low or High) using the speed control switch.
- Turn on the machine or press the foot pedal to begin sewing.
6.2 Stitch Selection
The FLSM-520 offers 12 built-in stitch patterns. Rotate the stitch selector dial to choose the appropriate stitch for your project, such as straight stitch, zigzag stitch, or decorative stitches.
6.3 Reverse Stitching
To secure the beginning and end of a seam, press and hold the reverse stitch lever. The machine will sew backward. Release the lever to resume forward stitching.
6.4 Hemming Function

7. Maintenance

7.2 Needle Replacement
Replace the needle regularly, especially if it becomes bent, dull, or if you experience skipped stitches. Use the correct needle type and size for your fabric.
- Turn off and unplug the machine.
- Loosen the needle clamp screw.
- Remove the old needle.
- Insert a new needle with the flat side facing the back of the machine, pushing it up as far as it will go.
- Tighten the needle clamp screw securely.
