2. Safety Information

Important Safety Warnings:

• This smoke alarm is designed for residential use only.
• Do not paint the smoke alarm. Paint can clog the sensing chambers and prevent the alarm from operating correctly.
• Test the smoke alarm weekly to ensure proper function.
• Do not attempt to open or repair the device. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
• The built-in lithium battery is designed to last 10 years and is not replaceable. Do not attempt to replace the battery.
• Ensure the alarm is installed in accordance with all local and national building and fire codes.

4. Setup and Installation

The Runidur US-SM04 smoke alarm offers two convenient installation methods:

4.1. Power Activation

Upon receiving the product, activate the fire detector's power. Use the provided small key or a similar pointed object to turn the power switch located on the back of the unit. A loud alarm signal will automatically sound briefly upon activation, indicating the unit is powering on and performing a self-test.

4.2. Installation Options

Choose the installation method that best suits your surface:

• Screw Installation:
  1. Mark the desired installation location on the ceiling or wall.
  2. Drill two holes at the marked points.
  3. Insert the provided expansion plugs into the drilled holes.
  4. Align the mounting bracket with the holes and secure it with the provided screws.
  5. Attach the smoke alarm to the mounting bracket by twisting it clockwise until it locks securely.
• 3M Adhesive Installation:
  1. Ensure the installation surface is clean, dry, and smooth.
  2. Peel off the protective film from one side of the 3M adhesive pad.
  3. Attach the adhesive pad firmly to the back of the smoke alarm.
  4. Peel off the remaining protective film from the other side of the adhesive pad.
  5. Press the smoke alarm firmly onto the desired installation location on the ceiling or wall for at least 30 seconds.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Testing the Alarm

It is crucial to test your smoke alarm weekly to ensure it is functioning correctly. To test the alarm:

1. Press and hold the large "TEST/SILENT" button on the front of the alarm for approximately 3 seconds.
2. The LED light will turn on, and a loud "beep" sound will be heard, indicating the alarm is working.
3. Release the button. The alarm sound should stop.

If the alarm does not sound during the test, refer to the Troubleshooting section.

5.2. Silencing Nuisance Alarms

In case of a non-emergency alarm (e.g., from cooking smoke), you can temporarily silence the alarm:

• Press the "TEST/SILENT" button once.
• The alarm will enter a temporary silence mode for approximately 10 minutes.
• If the smoke concentration remains high after the silence period, the alarm will reactivate.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and effectiveness of your smoke alarm:

• Cleaning: Dust can accumulate in the sensing chamber. Gently vacuum the alarm's cover and vents with a soft brush attachment at least once a month. Do not use cleaning solvents or sprays.
• Testing: Test the alarm weekly as described in Section 5.1.
• Battery: The 10-year lithium battery is sealed and non-replaceable. When the battery reaches the end of its life, the alarm will chirp periodically to indicate replacement is needed. Replace the entire unit at this time.
