4. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of your macerator pump. Follow these steps carefully.

4.1. Exhaust Vent Setup

Locate the exhaust vent on the top of the pump. Open the cover, insert the activated carbon bag (if supplied), and close it tightly. This helps manage odors.

4.2. Discharge Pipe Connection

Secure the check valve and elbow fitting to the discharge outlet using hose clamps. The one-way valve elbow can rotate 360 degrees to accommodate various installation requirements. The elbow connects to 1 inch, 1-1/4 inch, and 1-1/2 inch pipes. For optimal performance, a 1-1/4 inch pipe is recommended. Avoid using 2-inch pipes for this connection. Maintain a distance greater than 12 inches between the top row of the pump and any horizontal discharge pipes.

4.3. Side Inlet Connections

If connecting additional fixtures like a shower, washbasin, or other equipment, remove the cap from the desired side inlet by pushing it downwards. Cut the hose with a blade and connect a 1-1/2 inch inlet pipe, securing both ends with clamps. Install the inlet pipe with a 1% to 3% slope towards the pump for proper drainage. Use waterproof adhesive for hard pipe connections.

4.4. Toilet Connection

Connect the rubber hose from the toilet to the pump's main inlet and secure it with a clamp. Install the rubber ring into the toilet drain and secure it with a clamp. For installations where the toilet is on the other side of a wall, an extension pipe may be purchased separately.

If not all inlets are used, ensure to block any unused inlets with the provided covers and secure them with clamps to prevent leaks and ensure proper pump function.

5. Operating Instructions

The Flodream FD-PUMP-FLO800 macerator pump operates automatically. Once properly installed and connected to power, it will activate when waste water enters the unit, macerating solids and pumping the effluent to the main drainage system. Ensure the power supply is stable and within the specified voltage range.

The pump is designed for quiet operation, typically around 45dB, minimizing disturbance in your home environment.

If you encounter issues with your macerator pump, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Pump not activating: Check power connection. Ensure the water level is sufficient to trigger the automatic switch.
  • Unusual noise: Inspect for foreign objects in the macerating chamber. Ensure all pipes are securely fastened to prevent vibration.
  • Leaks: Verify all pipe connections and clamps are tight. Check seals and gaskets for damage.
  • Odor: Ensure the activated carbon filter is correctly installed and not saturated, or that the venting pipe is clear and properly connected.
  • Reduced flow: Check for blockages in the inlet or discharge pipes. Ensure the check valve is functioning correctly.
