  1. Prepare Your Crib: Disassemble the crib, retaining the headboard and footboard. Ensure all original crib hardware is removed from these components.
  2. Attach Bed Rails: Align the provided bed rails with the pre-drilled holes on your crib's headboard and footboard. Use the supplied hardware to securely bolt the rails into place. Ensure all connections are tight.
  3. Install Slats: Place the required 52 1/2 inch slats (not included) across the bed rails to create a stable foundation for the mattress. Ensure slats are evenly spaced and securely supported by the bed rails.
  4. Place Mattress: Position your full-size mattress onto the installed slats.

Important: Ensure all bolts are tightened securely to prevent wobbling. Periodically check the tightness of all hardware.

5. Usage and Mattress Support

Once assembled, your crib is now a full-size bed, utilizing the original headboard and footboard with the new bed rails. This setup is designed to support a full-size mattress.

Choosing Mattress Support: Slats vs. Box Spring

Using slats for mattress support is generally recommended over a box spring. Skipping the box spring can lower the mattress by up to 10 inches, making it easier and safer for a child to get in and out of bed.

6. Maintenance

To maintain the quality and appearance of your bed rails:

  • Cleaning: Wipe surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the wood finish.
  • Hardware Check: Periodically inspect all bolts and screws to ensure they remain tight. Re-tighten as necessary to maintain structural integrity.
  • Environmental Conditions: Avoid placing the bed in direct sunlight or near heat sources, which can cause wood to dry out or warp. Maintain a stable room temperature and humidity.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues during or after assembly, consider the following:

  • Bed Frame Wobbles: If the bed frame feels loose or wobbles, ensure all hardware connecting the bed rails to the headboard and footboard is fully tightened. Re-check each bolt. Ensure slats are properly seated and supported.
  • Missing Parts: If any parts are missing from your kit, please contact customer support immediately for assistance.
  • Compatibility Issues: Double-check the compatibility section (Section 2) to ensure your crib model is supported by this Bolt-On Kit.
