Setup

The Ordilend cleaning kit requires no complex setup. All tools are ready for immediate use. Ensure you have a clean, well-lit workspace before beginning any cleaning tasks.

Important: Before cleaning any electronic device, ensure it is powered off and unplugged from its power source. For devices with removable batteries, consider removing them.

Operating Instructions

1. Keyboard Cleaning

  1. Keycap Removal (for mechanical keyboards): Use the Keycap Puller to gently lift and remove keycaps. Insert the puller under the keycap and pull upwards evenly. Store removed keycaps safely.
  2. Surface Dust Removal: Use the Retractable Large Brush to sweep away loose dust and debris from the keyboard surface and between keys. Extend the brush by sliding the cover.
  3. Deep Cleaning Between Keys: For stubborn dirt or smaller crevices, use the Mini High-Density Brush or the Thin Soft Brush. Gently brush away accumulated dust.
  4. Stain Removal (Keyboard): For specific stains or grime, apply a small amount of the provided Detergent to a Polishing Cleaning Cloth and gently wipe the affected area. Avoid direct application of liquid to the keyboard.
  5. Cleaning Putty Application: Press the Cleaning Putty onto the keyboard surface, especially between keys. Gently lift to remove dust, crumbs, and hair. Do not rub or leave the putty on for extended periods.
  6. Reassembly: If keycaps were removed, carefully align and press them back onto their respective switches until they click into place.

2. Phone, Tablet, and Type-C Port Cleaning

This process is crucial for maintaining charging and data transfer functionality.

  1. Initial Debris Removal: Use the Port Pick to carefully dislodge larger pieces of lint, dust, or debris from the charging port. Insert gently and scrape along the inner walls. Avoid excessive force.
  2. Brush Cleaning: Select an appropriate size from the U-shaped brushes or other Port Brushes. Gently insert the brush into the port and rotate or move it back and forth to sweep out finer dust and particles.
  3. Metal Pin Tip for Stubborn Dirt: For very compacted dirt, use the Metal Pen Tip with extreme caution. Gently scrape away dirt without touching the internal pins or contacts. This tool is sharp; use minimal pressure.
  4. Final Wipe: After cleaning, use a dry Polishing Cleaning Cloth to wipe around the port opening.

3. Screen and Lens Cleaning

  1. Dust Removal: Use the Large Cleaning Microfiber Cloth or the Soft Plastic Lens Cleaning Pen (brush end) to gently brush away loose dust from screens, camera lenses, or other delicate surfaces.
  2. Smudge and Fingerprint Removal: For smudges, use the Soft Plastic Lens Cleaning Pen (carbon tip end). Gently rub the carbon tip in small circular motions over the smudge. Replace the carbon tip with one of the 5 Replacing Cloths when it becomes less effective.
  3. General Screen Cleaning: Lightly dampen a Polishing Cleaning Cloth with a small amount of the provided Detergent (or a screen-safe cleaning solution) and gently wipe the screen. Follow with a dry part of the cloth to remove any streaks.

4. Earbud/Headset Cleaning

  1. Grille Cleaning: Use the Flocking Sponge or a small Tool Cleaning Brush to gently clean earbud grilles and crevices.
  2. Case Cleaning: Use the Thin Soft Brush or a Polishing Cleaning Cloth to wipe down the charging case.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance extends the life of your cleaning kit and ensures optimal performance.

  • Cleaning Brushes: After use, gently tap brushes to remove debris. For heavier soil, rinse with mild soap and water, then air dry completely before storing.
  • Cleaning Cloths: The microfiber and polishing cloths can be hand-washed with mild detergent and air-dried. Do not use fabric softener, as it can reduce their effectiveness.
  • Cleaning Putty: The putty can be reused until it becomes saturated with dirt or loses its adhesive properties. Store it in its original container to prevent drying out.
  • Storage: Store all components in a clean, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Keep out of reach of children.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues while using the cleaning kit, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Issue: Dirt or lint not being removed effectively from ports.
Solution: Ensure the device is powered off. Use the Port Pick to dislodge compacted debris first, then follow with the appropriate Port Brush. For very stubborn dirt, use the Metal Pen Tip with extreme care, avoiding internal contacts.
  • Issue: Screen still has smudges after cleaning.
Solution: Ensure the screen is free of loose dust before applying any liquid. Use a fresh, clean Polishing Cleaning Cloth with a minimal amount of Detergent. Wipe gently and follow with a dry section of the cloth. The Soft Plastic Lens Cleaning Pen (carbon tip) is effective for fingerprints.
  • Issue: Keycaps are difficult to remove or reattach.
Solution: Ensure the Keycap Puller is correctly positioned under the keycap. Apply even, gentle pressure when pulling. When reattaching, align the keycap correctly with the switch stem and press down firmly until it clicks.
  • Issue: Cleaning putty leaves residue.
Solution: The putty should be pressed and lifted, not rubbed. If residue occurs, the putty might be too old or saturated. Replace with a fresh piece of Cleaning Putty.
