Setup Guide
1. Unboxing and Initial Inspection
Carefully unpack all components from the box. Verify that all items listed in the 'What's in the Box' section are present and undamaged. Familiarize yourself with the main unit, the Passive PoE adapter, and the mounting accessories.
2. Powering the Device (Passive PoE)
The EAP211-Bridge is powered using the included Passive PoE adapter. Connect an Ethernet cable from the 'PoE' port on the adapter to the main Ethernet port on the EAP211-Bridge unit. Then, connect the power cord to the PoE adapter and plug it into a power outlet. The device will power on automatically.
3. Mounting the Units
The EAP211-Bridge units are designed for outdoor mounting and are IP65 weatherproof. Use the provided mounting kit to securely attach the units to a pole or wall. Ensure a clear line of sight between the two units for optimal performance, especially for long-range transmissions. The integrated mounting bracket allows for easy attachment using zip ties or similar fasteners.
4. Auto-Pairing
For a quick and easy setup, the EAP211-Bridge KIT supports auto-pairing. Once both units are powered on and within range of each other, they will attempt to pair automatically. Observe the LED indicators on the side of the units; they will change to indicate successful pairing and signal strength.
5. Network Connection
After successful pairing, connect your network devices. For the unit acting as the 'source' (connected to your main router), connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the 'LAN' port on the PoE adapter. For the 'destination' unit, you can connect IP cameras, PCs, or other network devices to its Gigabit Ethernet ports. The system can operate in various modes, including repeating an existing Wi-Fi network or creating a separate network.
Operating Instructions
The TP-Link Omada EAP211-Bridge KIT offers flexible operating modes to suit different networking needs. While auto-pairing provides a basic point-to-point link, advanced configurations can be managed via the Omada SDN platform or the device's web interface.
Accessing the Web Interface
To access advanced settings, connect a computer directly to one of the EAP211-Bridge units via Ethernet. Open a web browser and enter the default IP address (refer to the Installation Guide for the specific IP). Log in using the default credentials (usually 'admin' for both username and password). It is highly recommended to change these default credentials immediately after initial access.
Operating Modes
The EAP211-Bridge supports multiple operating modes, including:
- Access Point (AP) Mode: Extends an existing wired network wirelessly.
- Client Mode: Connects to an existing wireless network to provide wired access.
- Repeater Mode: Extends the coverage of an existing wireless network.
- Bridge Mode (Point-to-Point/Multi-Point): Creates a wireless link between two or more locations. This is the primary function of the KIT.
- WISP Client Router Mode: Connects to a WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider) network wirelessly and shares the internet connection with local wired/wireless clients.
Detailed configuration steps for each mode are available in the comprehensive online tutorials on the TP-Link website.
Maintenance
To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your TP-Link Omada EAP211-Bridge KIT, regular maintenance is recommended:
- Physical Inspection: Periodically check the units for any physical damage, especially if mounted outdoors. Ensure all cables are securely connected and free from wear.
- Cleaning: Gently clean the exterior of the units with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners or aerosols.
- Firmware Updates: Regularly check the TP-Link website for firmware updates. Keeping the firmware updated ensures the best performance, security, and compatibility.
- Environmental Conditions: While designed for outdoor use, ensure the units are not exposed to extreme conditions beyond their specified operating temperature and humidity ranges.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your EAP211-Bridge KIT, consider the following troubleshooting steps:
- No Power: Ensure the Passive PoE adapter is correctly connected to the unit and a working power outlet. Check the power LED on the adapter.
- No Connection/Poor Signal: Verify that both units have a clear line of sight. Adjust alignment if necessary. Check all Ethernet cable connections. Ensure auto-pairing was successful (check LEDs).
- Network Access Issues: Confirm your device is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network or Ethernet port. Check IP address settings if configured manually.
- Resetting the Device: If issues persist, you may perform a factory reset. Locate the reset button (usually a small pinhole) on the unit, press and hold it for about 10 seconds while the device is powered on until the LEDs indicate a reset. This will revert all settings to factory defaults.
