Installation
1. Prepare for Installation
- Turn off Power: Before beginning, turn off the power to your heating and cooling system at the main fuse or circuit breaker panel.
- Remove Old Thermostat: Carefully remove the cover of your old thermostat.
- Label Wires: Use the supplied cable labels to clearly mark each wire connected to your old thermostat's terminals. This step is crucial for correct wiring.
- Disconnect Wires: After labeling, disconnect the wires from the old thermostat terminals.
- Remove Old Base: Unscrew and remove the old thermostat's mounting base from the wall.
2. Mounting the New Thermostat Base
The ELECTECK KRT1H1CB thermostat base can be mounted directly on the wall or to a junction box.
- Separate the new thermostat from its base.
- Position the thermostat base against the wall where you want to install it. Use the provided screws and anchors to secure the base. Ensure it is level for aesthetic purposes.
3. Wiring Connections
Refer to the terminal designations and wiring diagrams below to connect the labeled wires to the corresponding terminals on the new thermostat base.

Figure 2: Detailed view of the thermostat's terminal block and corresponding wire labels. Note the jumper wire between RH and RC for single transformer systems.
Terminal Designations:
| Terminal | Description |
|---|---|
| C | Common 24VAC (system power supply) |
| O | Reversing Valve Cool (Heat Pump) |
| B | Reversing Valve Heat (Heat Pump) |
| W | Heat Relay |
| RH | 24VAC (system power supply) - Heat |
| RC | 24VAC (system power supply) - Cool |
| G | Fan Relay |
| Y | Cool Relay |
Important: If you have both RH and RC wires, remove the metal jumper wire located between the RH and RC terminals. If you only have one R wire, connect it to RH and leave the jumper in place.
Wiring Diagrams for Common Systems:

Figure 3: Wiring configurations for typical 1H/1C systems (1 transformer, 2 transformers), 1H/1C heat pump systems, typical heat-only systems, heat-only systems with fan, and cool-only systems.
- 1. Power supply
- 2. Factory-installed jumper. Remove only when installing on 2-transformer systems.
- 3. Use either O or B terminals for changeover valve (heat pump systems).
- 4. Use a small piece of wire (not supplied) to connect W and Y terminals (specific configurations).
- 5. Set fan operation switch to electric (refer to Technician Setup).
- 6. Optional 24 VAC common connection when thermostat is used in battery power mode.
4. Technician Setup (Gas or Electric System)
After wiring, configure the thermostat for your specific heating system type using the internal switch.

Figure 4: Location of the internal switch to select between Gas and Electric system operation.
- Gas System: For systems that control the fan during a call for heat, set the internal switch to the GAS position.
- Electric System: For systems where the thermostat operates the fan when the fan relay is connected to the G terminal, set the internal switch to the ELEC position.
5. Attach Thermostat to Base
Once wiring and system configuration are complete, carefully align the thermostat body with the mounted base and snap it into place.
6. Restore Power
Return power to your heating and cooling system at the main fuse or circuit breaker panel.
Operation
This section describes how to operate your ELECTECK KRT1H1CB thermostat.
Display and Buttons

Figure 5: The thermostat's LCD display shows current room temperature and set temperature. Buttons for temperature adjustment are on the right, and system/fan switches are at the bottom.
- LCD Display: Shows current room temperature, set temperature, system mode, and fan status. The display has a blue backlight that activates when any button is pressed and turns off after approximately 10 seconds of inactivity.
- Up/Down Buttons (+ / -): Adjust the set temperature.
- FAN Switch (ON/AUTO):
- AUTO: The fan runs only when the heating or cooling system is actively operating. This is the most common setting.
- ON: The fan runs continuously, regardless of whether the heating or cooling system is active.
- SYSTEM Switch (COOL/OFF/HEAT):
- COOL: The thermostat will activate the cooling system when the room temperature rises above the set temperature.
- OFF: The heating and cooling systems are turned off.
- HEAT: The thermostat will activate the heating system when the room temperature falls below the set temperature.
Setting the Temperature
To adjust the desired temperature:
- Ensure the SYSTEM switch is set to either HEAT or COOL.
- Press the + button to increase the set temperature or the - button to decrease it. The display will show the new set temperature.
- The system will automatically activate to reach and maintain the set temperature.
Temperature Calibration
If you find the displayed room temperature to be inaccurate compared to another reliable thermometer, you can calibrate the thermostat. Refer to the full operation manual for detailed steps on accessing and adjusting the calibration setting. This feature allows you to offset the displayed temperature by a few degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius.
Maintenance
Battery Replacement
The thermostat can be powered by 24VAC or by two AAA batteries. If using batteries, replace them when the low battery indicator appears on the display.

Figure 6: The thermostat's dimensions and the easily accessible front-loading battery compartment for two AAA batteries.
- Locate the battery compartment on the front of the thermostat.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Remove the old AAA batteries.
- Insert two new AAA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover.
Even if your thermostat is wired for 24VAC power, batteries can serve as a backup during power outages.
Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your thermostat, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Display is blank | No power (24VAC) or dead batteries. | Check circuit breaker. Replace AAA batteries. Ensure C-wire is connected if not using batteries. |
| Heating/Cooling system not responding | System switch in OFF position, incorrect wiring, power off, or compressor delay. | Set SYSTEM switch to HEAT or COOL. Verify wiring connections. Check circuit breaker. Wait 5 minutes for compressor delay. |
| Fan not operating correctly | FAN switch setting, incorrect wiring, or system type (Gas/Electric) setting. | Check FAN switch (AUTO/ON). Verify G-wire connection. Ensure internal Gas/Electric switch is set correctly. |
| Inaccurate temperature reading | Thermostat location, or calibration needed. | Ensure thermostat is not exposed to direct sunlight or drafts. Use the temperature calibration feature. |
If problems persist after attempting these solutions, contact customer support or a qualified HVAC technician.
